Rumor going aroudn that Port Adelaide and Essendon have met to discuss a trade swapping the #2 and 5 picks, as well as a player going from the Power to Essendon.

Have you heard anything of this over in Victoria?

What player would you want along with the #5 pick for the #2 pick?

And please be realistic, coz there is no way your getting players like Pearce, Tredrea, C and K Cornes, S and P Burgoyne, or even of our top rated players.

Stuart Dew is always a name that rises when a Port-Essendon trade rumor is making the rounds. You can have him, and Toby Thurstans.

Given we have never traded our overall first pick in draft history it is very doubtfull this will happen. In fact i would say the only way it would happen is if Port where stupid enough to give up a top rated player.

Sorry, Port is not that stupid.

James Ezard is a kid that Kevin Sheedy likes apparently. His uncle played 100 games for the Bombers.

Spot on. Port would love to get Gibbs to stick it right up Adelaide. Bad luck port.

I'd very much doubt it. It's probably just some desperation over Gibbs that's started it.

If it were to happen we'd want one of your good young players. Pearce is too much but i guess Salopek would be thereabouts. It'd also mean we're keen on someone we think won't be drafted in the top 4, or think the top 5 are even.

You dont have to be sorry, i am not for one minute expecting Port to give up anyone you mentioned.

I can tell you it wont happen so it isnt worth looking at.

I think that both Port and the Crows want either pick 1 or 2 to give themselves some chance of getting Gibbs.

No harm in shopping it around, and who knows what or who may be offered, could turn into the silly season.

Your dreaming if you think someone like him would get you pick 2. If Sheedy was so keen on Ezard why didnt he draft him when he had the chance?

Didnt say not to shop it around ;) If Port want to give us someone good and pick five then of course you look at it. Then reality sets in lol :D

Same reason why Adelaide, Essendon, in fact, all 16 AFL clubs, passed up on Danyle Pearce, until Port took him with a late pick. The case of the unknown.

When Ezard played for Port this year, despite making the rookie mistakes, he showed he's got the capability of being a Josh Carr type player.

That is not at all a realistic trade. Just Salopek for pick two maybe, no way in hell for pick 5 and salopek.

As much as you supporters want for the #2 pick, you also have to consider what the club are actually after. You can go on and on about what you think club needs, but you prolly have no idea of what the club actually want.

Just like us Port supporters have no idea about what they actually want in the trade week or draft period. We go on and on about what we think the club needs and what we think they want, but we actually don't have a clue what they want.

I'd be very very surprised if the Bombers traded their #2 pick, no matter what was on offer.

Port can have our pick 2 and keep their pick 5 aswell.

Give us Shaun Burgoyne.

S.Burgoyne is worth pick #1 + the whole Carlton team XD

what about Lonie or Cassisi + pick 5 for pick 2 :)

The chances of such a deal being successful will really hinge on how highly essendon rate the players available at pick #5 and how much they value the player that port offers them. Of course we don't know how badly Port wants this trade to take place either. I think both parties would be happy to walk away if they can't gain an advantage and i think it would be hard for this kind of deal to be made. Also Essendon has not had many picks this high and with such high quality players available in (gibbs, gumbleton, hanson) its probably gonna take a fair offer to make us give that up. Most of Port Adelaide's players seem to either be in the 'untouchable' category or not valued high enough to entice essendon into the deal.

Great, Toby Thurstans, Michael Gardiner and Polak have all been mentioned as possible trades to us now. Lucky us, we can get the whole set!!

As long as you try and throw up trade suggestions that are all weighted in heavily in favour of Port, don't expect us to treat you seriously. I imagine that in your next imaginative post you'll probably offer just pick #5 for pick #2 and then wonder why we're unhappy and go on to lecture us some more about what we do and don't know. We know what the club would be after, and that is value.

I can't see it happening, as I can't see how both teams would end up being happy with what they've got out of it.

No one's mentioned what they have in common - though is there anyone left who doesn't know what we aren't supposed to know? (Hmm, sounds like a line from Yes, Minister).

Unless Port are willing to give up one of their young midfeilders then there is absoloutely no way we'd think of doing this.

How long has it been since we have been able to draft the best young players going around? Remmember, this draft is apparently going to be very strong.

Considering you've began this thread, its almost pointless to stipulate or speculate what a trade between our clubs would entail.

Suprised Chaplin's name has not been thrown up yet..
would fit in and take over our chb problem with no drama's and if we did happen to get pick five with him we would have the opportunity to pick up Joel Selwood
I wouldnt be dissapointed.

Port have nothing we want.Nothing they would want to give up!
We have our draft pick No.3 to bargin with and we should trade for a proven young kid about 21-23.
Its a huge carrot to dangle in front of the likes of WC,WB,Freo,Collingwood,St Kilda and Melbourne. We should cut our list, free up some space and pinch one of their good players.

It's actually pick 2 and it would take a real promising kid or a very good package for us to trade it.
Highly unlikely, but no harm in seeing what it's worth

Yes he's Alan's nephew, but he's hardly worth a top draft pick. :D

If we could use our fourth pick plus a player for him then it would be well worth it.

I reckon over this past season we would've thrown a heap into the scouting of midfeilders across the country.
