Before i start i am not trolling and i really do like your footy club.

Just a query over the sack the coach incident. Was it the best thing for the stkilda footy club? One may think with recent succeses and a string of bad luck in the injury department that rather than sack the coach, the board should have stepped aside instead and let a board that didn't have personal difficulties with the coach come in. I find it hard to believe that in a proffesional sport that personal differences can lead to this sort of decision particularly when the football department is performing well. Gee i hope you guys win a flag soon (or go close), because if not it may be seen in the future as one of the worst decisions in recent history, in that the unsettling nature of the decision may in the long and short term cost your club dearly. Can you expect your players to implement a new coaches game plan and click next year? It would be an enormous effort. I hope i am wrong.

I'm glad you hope we will win a flag soon. A mate at my local footy club suggested a few weeks ago that he'd love to see the Saints win a flag, just so he wouldn't have to hear me whinge about St Kilda any more. I informed him I believed his logic was impeccable.

To continue the love fest, next year looms as "St Kilda 2003" for Hawthorn - the year when you win some important games, claim some big scalps, but eventually just miss the finals. A clear step in the right direction.

Time will tell whether it was the correct decision to sack Grant Thomas. The pool of experienced senior coaches to pick from at the moment is as small as it has ever been. With Wallace & Eade going off the market two years ago, there has only been people whose records and ability is up for debate, like Ayres & Frawley. And I believe we need an experienced senior coach. But we aren't going to get one. I just hope they make the right decision, but we won't know what this is for a couple of years at least, unless we win it all next year.
