of ever getting a recall to the Australian side after his outburst towards the media. Thats exactly how you go about trying to regain your spot back....have a massive go at the media after you get hit by a bouncer.
Well done Slats....very professional of you

I think Michael Slater has done his dash and I suspect he knows it. Matthew Hayden & Justin Langer have cemented their spots as the opening pair for Australia in the test matches and as long as they keep putting on 200, why would you even think of dropping them for anyone else!! :):)

Slats needs to get a grip. He should go and see a psychiatrist or go to Katmandu and search for his inner self or something like that. Whatever it is he should just get away from cricket and tghose that seem to be tormenting him so much.

Whilst he still has the 'NSW' next to his name he is still well and truly in contention.
If Matthew Hayden was injured in the first test in SA i have no doubt that Slats would be the first name on the list of replacements.
If i had my way Michael Slater would automatically lose his ACB contract after his latest outburst, there are far more deserving cricketers like Matthew Elliott (although we all know that Matty won't play for Australia whist Stephen Waugh is the captain).

I think Joe Bloggs from Na-Na-Goon thirds has more chance of playing for Australia than Slater has.
Has any Aussie players career crashed faster than Slaters ?

why doesn't he change his name to warwick todd? it would make more sense.
Seriously though, it's pretty sad to see somebody self-destruct like that, and how a few in the media seem to be enjoying his demise.

Don't start blaming the media. Its all his own fault.

As JUBJUB said a few weeks ago,
Slats is truly up sh*t creek without a paddle.

Maybe so, but it's a bit hard to swallow certain print journalists admonishing him for his self-indulgent and showy lifestyle when it was all fine for Slater to be an extoverted character when he was success.
Or to put it another way, while the commercial media can pontificate about how obnoxious Slater's lifestyle has become, they helped promote this erratic behaviour by treating him like a God (as successful sports people are these days) and showering him with more attention then more of us will ever get in their whole lives.
Is it any wonder that under these circumstances, that certain sportspeople react the way Slater does when things start to fall apart?
Anyone else heard the rumour that Slats is the father of Gilchrist's child? Completely unsubstantiated, but word has it that the primary reason for Gilly dashing back to WA during the one day series was to take a DNA test, which has proven negative.
Slater's fall from grace happened about a year ago, so the timing is about right. If the loss in form and senior spot led to a personality crisis, which led to Slats sleeping around a fair bit (as was apparently the case), it certainly could have happened.
Don't ask me to prove it - I can't. Just want to know if anyone else has heard that one.

Everyone in the PM's Dept, Defence and Immigration has heard the truth, Roger, i.e. that the rumour is BS, but Johhny still thinks its true!
What a load of rubbish. Gilchrist couldnt take a test in Sydney?
Slater has been off the rails for over a year (remember the crack up in India over the catch?). Hope he sorts himself out for his sake, but I never liked him much as a cricketer or commentator.
Love the tatts Mickey!

I hear Slater wants a fresh start and will be opening the batting with Matty Elliot for Victoria next year.

Slater has more chance of rooting Gillies missus than of playing for Victoria.

Keep Slater off our 'G!!!
I would rather Julian Wiener make a comeback and open the Vics batting!!
Seriously Victoria has to take the stance that we don't want anymore old interstate batsmen coming in and stopping the flow of juniors into the team. I know blokes like Mott, Arnberger, Nobes etc. have given their all, but we want to play young blokes who will one day play for Australia.
Slater is not only never going to play for Australia again, he is very unlikely to be a team player, and will spit the dummy when things don't go his way!

Very well said, I totally agree.
I am a huge Slater fan, and I'd LOVE to see him back in the Aussie side, but I know he'll never get another chance. But he was brilliant while he was there. How quickly people forget.

Woohoo! I hope Slaters outburst has convinced the ACB selectors to push Slater to the back of the queue and think of Love, Hussey and some of the "good guys" when considering opening test positions.
