Anyone know of any sons of Fitzroy/Bear players showing potential in juniors?

I know Roger Merrett's son was talked about at one stage but he indicated he'd rather go to the Dons.

While Rog's son is playing seniors with Southport ATM, he wouldn't be worth a third round draft pick. In fact he'd be lucky to be rokkie listed IMO. I think h e may be 19-20yo already.

The thing that annoys me is that there may be future players from the old Fitzroy coming but their history is not included in the BL history, specifically player records and cups. The AFL can't have it both ways.

You guys proably don't have the easiest time when it comes to father son picks for 2 reasons.

1. A lot of your father son prospects live in melbourne and don't want to leave home.

2. Many of them don't feel the same connection with Brisbane as they did with Fitzroy

These two things cost you Marc Murphy luckily for us.

I feel sorry for you in this way. You deserve to have your fathers sons more then teams like Adelaide who winge about not getting father son picks when the father didn't even play for their club even when the club was in already in existence.

I read that and actually thought of Browny in a year 9 science class there for a moment...

The club isn't taking any chances on this one.

I have consulted my crystal ball and...
In 2025 under extreme pressure from one Mr Edward McGuire the AFL changes the rules once again and makes it 300 games played in order for the son to qualify under the F/S rule.
Unfortunately Brown Jr's dad having played only 299 games makes him ineligible to be taken under the F/S by Brisbane.
Brisbane to appeal the decision.

* Samuel Brown's dad Jonathan played in seven premierships for the Lions including the record equaling four consecutive flags of 2008 -2011.:D

I LOL'd, you amde me think about it, too. A 195cm , 105kg fella justing being able to sit on the chair, his legs lifting the table up.

Like all footballers, he'd probaly pass on sheer intimidation.

Samuel Brown

Sam and his 5 younger brothers have stated that they are only interested in playing for Brisbane.

The AFL have charged Brisbane and young Sam with Draft tampering and manipulation, The hearing has been set and it is anticipated that the Lions will loose their first two draft picks of the 2005 National Draft.

I think only the first one applied as Murphy senior has stated that while he doesn't have a connection with Brisbane , Marc would have definitely gone F\S if it wasn't for the stay at home factor.

I think we should find a way of cloning the genes of Leppitsch with, say Brown, or Voss. Or alternately, develop some sort of machine where we could mix Leppitsch, Voss, Brown, Aker, Black, Michael, Johnson, Lynch, Lappin, Keating, and Power to come up with a kind of "super player". Then we could clone 22 of them.

Future solved.

I think we should have a oysters and vodka night with all the premiership players and their sisters...

:eek:Don't say that, people will get the wrong idea.

That would one heck of a long surname. Even if we just took the first letter, a player by the name of LVBABMJLLKP would still be hard to say.

Just imagine...

The Height of power, the knees of Voss, the durability of Keating, the diplomacy of Aker, the media skills of Lappin, wait a minute....
