Oh dear its started early.
On NRL forums they are already whinging at why the swans got the front page in the tele on Sat & front & front sports page in the SMH on Sat.
They are getting defenise saying it will always be no 1, say the media should not forget what sport drives the media, saying who it will be 80/20 AFL coverage in media in Sydney.
Its gonna be massive week in Sydney!!

Thats probably why you don't have your way. Ignorance.
There is plenty of room for Football, Rugby and Soccer to thrive in this country. Those who whine about this and that are little people who are just holding their respective codes back.
Don't kid yourself.
Rugby league will always be number one in Sydney. Front/backpages for a week for AFL doesn't equal front/backpages for the other 51 weeks.
However, this opportunity is a great opportunity for the AFL to take in Sydney though... especially with no Sydney team in the NRL.

Wow, I thought you only got that kind of reaction from Victorian AFL fans every time soccer or rugby or league gets half a page ten pages in...
Seriously, though, it's fairly obvious that the reason is that the Swans are team representing all of Sydney, and they'd just made the grand final. The alternative for Sydney papers would be to knock the Swans off the front page in favour of the story about the team representing a small part of Sydney getting knocked out by Brisbane.
It's not about rugby league being usurped, it's about AFL being more newsworthy on the day.
