View Full Version : Changes for Richmond game?

From what I've read, McIntosh, Embley, Hansen, Sampi and McDougall might be coming into the team for the game. Since Richmond has a lot of talls, it makes sense for those talls to come in, as well as sampi who is a phenomenal talent.

The question is, who gets dropped? I believe Roo should have a rest, Humm should not play for medical reasons, but who else?

Green and Wooden maybe

Well for a start, I wouldn't play:

Pe Matera, because of his tight hamstrings. No point risking him.

Humm, he's still in the clouds.

Haynes I think will be alright and should play.

It was reported in the paper today, that Hansen didn't train so he looks doubtfull. Williams also had trouble and probably won't play either.

McIntosh and Embley however trained well and will probably play, though I wouldn't risk McIntosh for more than one game.

Don't know how McDougall is going?

Don't know how the others are going. Anyone got a proper injury update?

Haynes might be out as well (50-50). I read that Hansen didn't finish training. I think Hilton and Rogers are in for the Tigers but they're still missing a few good players, but then who isn't!

I'd think Millie for Carroll, Embley for Haynes, Sampi for Humm and McDougal for Green wouldn't be a bad couple of moves IMO.

Gives a couple of young guys a run while suring up the defence.

Was there an extended bench on Saturday of 8 or did they end up with 6 in the end? If there were 8, then a couple more guys would have to miss out.

I think the most important thing to remember is that Richmond are a tall team. If possible, I would have McIntosh, Carroll, Jakovich and Gaspar all playing, though Gaspar would most likely go down forward. I'd like to see Sampi play and Lynch as well.

ive heard big things about Sampi and id really like to see him play this week

My rule of thumb - don't play anyone who isn't fit.

A bloke at work put me onto this site. It's got an update on injuries and where the team is at every week.

http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/

It's mostly articles out of the paper. Between this , Buzz's, AFL.com.au and the Eagles site, you can get most of the info you need.

If Sampi is anywhere as good as Judd appears to be then things are definately on the up and up. Especially with the players we already have. I look forward to the rundown of the game from all of you that attend. I hope Ready keeps improving and that Andrew Mcdougall finally gets a chance. My son is a Richmond supporter so I really hope we have a good win. He's been smug for too long. Kodie

I listened to the post match interview with the coach yesterday and he specifically mentioned both Sampi and Lynch - so I would expect to see them in action this week. He also hinted that some established players would not play in all these games so I expect matera to be rested.
Richmond will be keen to make amends for their poor showing against Geelong, but listening to the coach it seemed his main aim was to try out as many players as he could in these games. He also said at this point he had not picked the team for round 1 of the real season, and is keen to give everyone a go. Pretty good philosophy at this time in my opinion.

Probably best to rotate the side abit, just rest some of the younger guys like Humm, Kerr, Green etc,. who played for us on the weekend. But definetaly keep Chris Judd in as he needs to get some experience before the real thing starts.

the victorian papers listed Gaspar as our for a few weeks.

realfooty.com by the way is the football site for The Age (Victorian newspaper).

I would have like to have seen Gas play on Ottens, but I'll settle for Glass. As for other inclusions I'd like to see (asides Glass), McDougall, Sampi, McIntosh (for a run) and Embley.

Against Richmond, I don't like the idea of Jako playing against Ottens or Richardson. IMO, Jako isn't half as good when forced to play out of the goalsquare (that rules out Richardson), and I don't think Ottens is his ideal match-up, thus IMO, move Jako forward for a game (couldn't hurt to play him at CHF) or rest him, anyone with some thoughts??

Only six were on the bench last weekend, they were talking up eight if the change didn't come through, but it did, so they stuck with the original six.

The footy record lists Embley as 190 and 95, figures that would suggest he could hold down CHF, but honestly, i've always thought he was big, but not that big, any thoughts???

wouldn't it be great though if we could come out and physically impose ourselves on the tigers like we did last week against Carlton, especially when their team contains a "sniper" like Hilton.

rant over

On the nose Vis, they will bomb it high into our 50 to feed their talls and we have to have an answer.

Dammit!! I was training really hard and Whoosh promised me a game!! :D

Ummm i dont know about resting Cuz or Gardy...i think we should try to win every game, be positive and get some confidence. I think Matera should rest though. Want to see Lynch and Sampi in action.

We will need to stack some talls in defence, is Glass ready or is he injured?

I'd expect McDougall and Embley to both get a game if they're fit (and apparently they're close).

Pity about Gaspar because we look one tall defender short, though Collica plays quite tall and Carroll did OK on Richardson last year.

We need to establish midfield dominance to win.

Im pretty sure Ben Holland from Richmond has been ruled out so thats one less tall we have to worry about

Im just trying to think whos gonna cover Richo... McIntosh IMO doesnt have the match fitness, maybe Collica should be given a crack at him??

Visro

Richo eh? I'd play either Embley, McIntosh or Collica on him.

All depends on what sort of day he is having as well...

Pardon me if I "accidently" take out Suzi_Olsen before the opening bounce.

I'd give Wooden a "rest" for this week and maybe rotate a few players over the next 2 weeks (Humm, Peter Matera shouldn't be playing this week if they aren't right) and give a few young kids a go (Sampi, Lynch, McDougall)

Im going to be going too. I love the preseason games, first chance to actually go to the footy after such a long break, get to see the new players and how the old are going, the crowds arent huge so theres no real queuing hassles anywhere, yet theres still enough for a decent atmosphere. Best of all as a member I get in free for one game and if youre not its cheaper than the regular season anyhow. I highly recommend getting to the game if youre in Perth.

I am going as well.

I would save Suzi's debut until when we play Sydney. I would then play fer on Plugger! Then tell him she is a sister of the Wakelin's
