My second and third, etc. team varies depending on who has players that I like, is playing some attractive footy and is not up themselves.

i dont really have a 2nd team but i love watching west coast or the bulldogs play and find that when they're playing other teams i subconsciously support them.

Hawthorn and Melbourne.
I've always liked the hawks and Melbourne is the only team other than Brisbane who i find i support all the time when they are playing, no matter who they are against. I love their style of play, and they have many of my favourite non-lions players - Moloney, Davey, Bruce, White, Pickett, and Johnstone.

Me too. Never had another AFL team prior to the Brears. I was a Cooparoo supporter in the local league. I remember I liked watching the Hawks because The Great Jsson Dunstall was there. But that did not last long. In fact the 45 point 3/4 turnaround is a very fond memory. That was a hot day:).

Dees have been my 2nd for the last couple of years - just like the way they play footy...very similiar values in that club to what we have

What he said. Used to be the Eagles, now more Freo and the Bulldogs. It will never be Port, Essendon or Collingwood, and I find it really hard to cheer for the Swans as a second team despite living here now. Most of the time I end up cheering for their opposition.

2. Western Bulldogs - I love their fast running pace game. I also coach at the Wests Jrs Bulldogs :D
3. Swannies - Cheer Cheer the Red and White. I realised the other day that I didn't hate the Swans, I respect them.

quite simply I don't have one - when it comes to finals etc I pick on the day. Although always barrack for whoever is playing Co...Col.C.C.Col.... nup can't say it but you get my drift.

Second tier - Richmond (I barracked for them as a kid), Bulldogs (not sure why - just like them), and Freo (try real hard)
Don't like but no particualar reason - Adelaide Crows, Sydney (was sooo hoping West Coast would win vs Crows otherwise I would have *both* of them in the GF).
Agree with LL on the evil ones - anyone playing C ... C .... C .... (not Catchcart Towers! :D ) gets my support!

Melbourne because they have a bit of class as opposed to the other team & I like the coach.
After that I don't mind the crows either for similar reasons.
2nd fav - Saints... It used to just be cos I liked the colours and stuff but now some of my fav. non-lions players play for them. Not sure of any other real reasons.
Also don't mind adelaide, wce (they used to have a player with the exact same name as me... even though I am a girl and they are a guy I used to think that was pretty cool), Essendon
Never ever supporting Ferals, Carlton or Port (which strangly enough are the 3 teams my mum, nan and brother support respectively)

Before the Bears, I supported Essendon (where I grew up, it was a Bombers town), so I still have a soft spot for them.
At one stage I could not make up my mind. See I was still upset about the merger (sorry Fitzroy) for many years.
The pull of loyalty to Brisbane Lions was too strong so I finally signed up for membership of the Brisbane Lions (and a ton of merchandise).
I also have a soft spot for Footscray, err Western Bulldogs, particularly since Liber and Terry Wallace days.
So,
2nd team, Essendon
3rd team, Bulldogs

would be the bulldogs, love the way they play and have many south aussie boys in their side eg. cooney, griffen, mcmahon and minson.
will never support port for obvious reasons and also west coast and collingwood.

The first game of footy I saw was Bears vs. Hawks at Carrara. Went to the game to support the Bears came home going for the Hawks and Brissy have been my second team ever since. I was just so appalled at such a young age of the then attitude (not present day) of crowd / score board promotions about booing the other team for good play, it wasn't like cheer the Bears it was deadset jeer the opposition, didn't like the then Bears basic pellerman boozy culture from a young age the Hawks as we know are awesome!!! And now the Lions have got premiership stars there treating them with contempt, who cares what Akka might have said it's a footy club it attracts all sorts thicker skin required Leigh/Bowers - Leigh being a once mighty Hawk amazes me with he's woosyness in later life...

Used to be Melbourne then they beat us. Then it was Geelong, then they beat us. Thought the Dogs were a nice team, then they beat us. Adelaide had similar colours (to Fitzroy), infact, their cheer squad looked like the Fitzroy cheer squad and if you didn't know where the Fitzroy cheer squad normally sat, you'd be confused as to who was who - so the crows had a soft spot but then there was that infamous game in 1991 (i think 91 night game) where any supporter could not have gone on with Adelaide as a second team. Just to difficult to maintain a second team because when a team beat us (unless their result has a direct positive affect on us) i normally want them to lose the following week. Maybe, i need a head fix - but it is Brisbane 100 percent and no room for any other team.

I'm with you. I remember going down to Carrara and us Bears where deadset being flogged by Geelong by 600 points and that was when I hated the Bears. The crowd did nothing but boo Geelong. Non stop. In time on it just got worse and was appalling. Time on was only 3 minutes. Stupid crowd. And then I was there one day and Fidge deadset drank a bottle of bundy on the field and smacked Capper over the head with the empty bottle. That has made me hate the Lions so much that I reckon Vossy should have go all the players together when that thin skinned Mathews came here and demanded that we should stay wooden spooners for ever because then we could have been like say one of those teams that everyone has as their 2nd team and the draft picks we could have got:eek:. And who needs Vodafone biggest ever sponsorship when we could have Aker saying all types of things like how Bowers sucks and Mathews is a meglo..mgll... meggg you know maniac thing and a bully and Leigh being an allmighty pie. Yeah good stuff. By the way what is a Broncos go you good things!!!?

err, you are exaggerating aren't you? that'll be like a goal a minute.

11.9 (75) vs 37.17 (239) - pretty close to a goal a minute.
Geelong kicked 170 the week before, played the bears, and kicked over 200 the next week, and 180 the week after. They had kicked 150+ 9 times that season.
Geelong, only because my dad is a mad Cat fan.
:thumbsu::thumbsu: Same here...as a kid, was obsessed with Gazza and also my Dad is from Geelong and was a big fan. Funnily enough is a fully fledged Lions supporter now.

Mine used to be Geelong for a number of reasons:
1) I come from old Geelong recruiting zone hence a lot of locals played for them
2) My late brother-in-law played for them (1 losing GF and broke his thumb to miss out on last GF win in '63)
3) My cousin played for them and played in 89 ressies loss to Lions
4) Holidaying at St Leonards for 35 years
5) Great country town feel about the club and great to have a laugh at ourselves
But now I like the Kangas because:
1) my old team colours from my home town
2) Kangaroo, symbolic of Australia
3) Shinboner spirit
4) Bomber Thomson has lost me over the past few years
