Given all the injuries and things that have happened who do you think are out best 22 going into next year? Mine are:
B: Adcock Michael Scott
HB: Lappin Merrett Roe
C: Hadley Black Sherman
HF: Power Brown Clark
F: Johnson Bradshaw McGrath
R: Charman Voss Selwood
Int: Richetelli Stiller Notting Wood
Close but no cigar to Drummond, Copeland and Moody.
If Johnson recovers full speed I move him back to BP but otherwise he is a fair small strong leading forward who would work well in tight with Brown. I can see them playing Scott and Johnson at different ends a fair bit next year and swapping them around. It would also take some pressure off Hooper and allow him to develop. McGrath retains the spot because of his 35 goals in 2004 and the hope that he might return to form with better service.
A pretty competitive team if we can get everyone on the field.

4 of those players stand a very good chance of being elsewhere next year. If Drummond or Copeland are not in the team i would be very surprised. Also Brown will play closer to goal and Voss will die if he plays on the ball.
There are a million of threads on this topic if you want to check who everyone else had. I'll update mine after trade and draft week.

If some end up leaving Drummond and Copeland are right to come in but I just used what our list is now. Who would you drop for Drummond and Copeland? Brown will still line up at half forward on the team sheet ala Barry Hall. I agree he will play closer to goal as he did in the last couple of games before he went out for the season.
Vossy if he plays on will still play in the centre as Matthews said recently. They will move him around and give him plenty of breaks. He was a good as anyone in the packs at the end of the season.
I agree after trade week makes sense but I was bored so what the hey.
Good to see another Ayr boy on here.

That is fairly close to my best 22. The changes I would make are:
I would have Drummond ahead of Notting or Scott. Admittedly he is one of my favourite players, but I just think he adds that touch of class to the side (he is probably our best disposer by foot) and he doesn't panic under pressure. I would play him in defence. The thing that he is lacking is bulk. I was hoping he would bulk up a bit over summer but that will be hard recovering from a shoulder reconstruction.
I also like Johnson better in defence, although I think Leigh indicated he would be getting more time up forward.
I'd have Clark at Centre Half Forward and Brown and Full Forward, but it's just a title, and we probably have the same idea how they will play, so that's probably splitting hairs.
I agree with those guys...Drummond's gotta be in the team, in the backline IMO.
B: Adcock Michael Drummond
HB: Sherman Roe Johnson
C: Hadley Lappin Voss
HF: Power Brown Clark
F: Hooper Bradshaw McGrath
R: Charman Black Rischitelli
Int from (yeah, I wussed out and couldn't cut any of them:p) Notting Scott Merrett McDonald Selwood Copeland
I think Voss is best served around the ball, at least on a wing. Good call on Power in the forward line, but equally as good off halfback. A few things...Roe & Merrett would be chopped & changed in the backline depending on opposition. Either Brown or Bradshaw player out of the square or both. Would be tempted to put Wood instead of Mcdonald as you've done Quigley if I thought we may lose him otherwise, but i'm not sure what's up with his contract.
Basically, to have selection problems is a damn good thing I think.

u cant leave drummo out he is easily in our best 10-15.
maybe Scott would be squeezed out otherwise a good side.
warwick if Vossy plays it wont be a forward pocket it will be off the bench, in the centre as always.

Drummond in for Scott, Roe to fullback and Mal Michael out (don't believe he will be with the Lions next season, and Notting onto the half back flank, with Bushie coming onto the bench. Then Richetelli in the starting line up and Hadley on the bench, where he needs to be coming back from such serious knee injuries.
As for Moody, after reading in this morning's paper that he/manager only wants a one year contract with the thought of maybe Fremantle in 08, I would be sending him packing right away. Brisbane dont need to develop him for another season with his thoughts aimed at the West the following season.

Love this quote from the link
"It is believed another Young stablemate, LLane Spaanderman, complained of a lack of communication and education to younger players from the Lions coaching staff on his return to Perth after being delisted by Brisbane at the end of last season."
We where at a function and he told a group that the Lions had been fantastic to him. Can't win.
Who is he, who does he play for?

I agree that if he wants to go in a year's time, there is not much point keeping him now. Hopefully we can organise a trade with Freo - I think both parties would be happy with a 2nd round pick.
Spaanderman was delisted so that is completely different.
I would be devestated if Mitch Clark left. He is such a talented player. Not that there's anything to suspect he will.

media beat up Leigh was categorical on On The Couch the other night.
And if Leigh's ego is as inflated as Aker says he wouldn't be putting himself out there for "you were wrongs - nah na na nah nah :D "

Bloody hell! Are you serious? Are you still up there? I didn't think there were 2 people from that town who could use a computer.
Unfortunately, i think arguing about where Vossy will play is irrelevant because i think he will definately retire this year. I hope not, but i just get the feeling he thinks his time has come.
I would hate to lose Moody, but if he is talking about looking at leaving in 2008, there is no point keeping him. Hopefully Clark stays at the end of his contract because the West Australian boys seem to get the most homesick.
