Hi
Thought I'd start this thread. I love this board. What a shame I only discovered it recently.
Anyway, I was wondering if we could start a list of the players' other career, as it is interesting.

A few are doing Human Movement as well.
You see them around the traps at Uni.
Mal has the Mal Michael Foundation - a few years back he had a restaurant/bar as well - but he sold that.
A number of them undertook a "designed for them" TAFE course in construction & renovation over the end of 04 and beginning of 05. So who knows who might end up in that area too.
Off the top of my head Hadley & Charman were also at Uni & Begley started Uni here too.
Who has got their own fashion label
Is it Drummo, or JMac?

A business student at the Queensland University of Technology, where he is majoring in accounting, Troy says study provide a welcome distraction from the world of football.
As passionate and enthusiastic as he is about his chosen sport, Troy says he can't live football all of the time.
"Some guys can live and breathe footy 24 hours a day but as soon as I leave the footy club I need to be thinking about other things," he explained.
"To get stuck into the accounting books gives me a nice release. And also to meet a new set of mates outside of footy and meet people where footy isn't the topic of every single conversation."

Brown does the part time mowing lawns thing... I cbf finding a link tho!
From lions.com.au
Now, Brown is helping Mugavin [his cousin] out with his new business - ‘Mugsy’s Mowing & Yard Maintenance’.
Donning his personalised Mugsy’s Mowing polo shirt (which has ‘Browny’ embroidered on the front), Brown will feature in a monthly ‘Celebrity Lawn Mowing Day’, where he will visit a Lions supporter each month to do their lawns.
“Being from the bush, I’m certainly no stranger to mowing lawns. I actually enjoy getting out there and cutting some grass, it keeps me pretty fit and healthy through the off-season” Brown said on the prospect of mowing some fans’ lawns.
Anybody that uses ‘Mugsy’s Mowing’ will automatically be entered into a monthly draw to win a great selection of prizes including a visit from the star Lions player. Brown will not only mow your lawns, but also provide a BBQ for you and your friends. Also, the more times a supporter uses Mugsy’s Mowing, the more chances they have in the prize draw.
Mugsy’s Mowing, complete with Lions inspired colours and branding, now operate throughout Brisbane with the slogan, ‘you grow it, we mow it’.
Having already performed yard jobs for Brisbane Lions players Jamie Charman, Chris Johnson and Mitchell Clark, Mugsy’s Mowing has also now employed Anthony Corrie to help with some jobs around the home.
So whether you would like to have Browny over for a BBQ at your place, or simply need the lawns trimmed, give Shaun ‘Mugsy’ Mugavin a call on (07) 3395 5604 or 0415 389 087.
With the industry growing rapidly throughout the country, you can also choose to be in business with Browny & Mugsy. Give Shaun a call to discuss franchises and other business opportunities that are currently available.

PAMPERED ... Brisbane Lion Jamie Charman gets a shave from Carole Haddad at the spa he founded.
Beauty and the beast

COURIER MAIL
BRISBANE men are latching on to the male grooming phenomenon in their droves, if the first-year results of the city's two newest male-only day spas are anything to go by.
Teneriffe's Garth Male Grooming and South Bank's Number 19 Men's Day Spa are no longer having to convince Queensland's male population that liking a beauty treatment does not make them "girlie".
The guys themselves have set the bar at a new level....
South Bank's Number 19 Men's Day Spa, founded by Brisbane Lions metrosexual and No.19 jersey bearer Jamie Charman, also has a book full of regulars since its mid-year opening.
Number 19 manager Dorothy Hawkins says customers were quick on the uptake right from the start.
"We have sold so many treatment vouchers for Christmas presents it's incredible," Ms Hawkins says. "And the people who buy know what the man wants, so it's a case of men demanding beauty services themselves these days, not just getting talked into it."
While the hot stone massage tops the list of favourites, she says the number of men opting for facials has also increased in the past few months.
"Men are getting the idea that caring for their skin is still masculine," she says.

Err, I think most of the team could go in for a shave. Have you seen the pictures of them lately? Scruffy!

Daniel, Daniel....this thread is bordering on stalking is it not?
I thought it would've been a funny thread ala the Aka job or based on the surname?
How about these for instance
Simon Black - ICC referee for Indian relations
Jamie Charman - Boxing Marquee Manager
Jonothan Brown - Hells Angel Bouncer
Luke Power - Childcare Assistant
Jed Adcock - I'm letting this one go through to the keeper
Joel Patfull - Backslapper
Daniel Merrett - School Prinicpal
Rhan Hooper - Rodeo Rider
Matt Moody - Female Counseller
Troy Selwood - Bunnings Timber BDM
I know they're not quite original or for that matter funny but I'm just putting it out there to be bettered by the great minds here.
Brad Dalziell - fat copper detective

Tim, Tim, Tim... TIMMY!!!
Just an information service for when you speak with players.
To Herr Schmidt, I could say something polite like "Chris, how is your studying going at UQ?" (translation: I'm acknowledging you have a brain, so I won't insult you by treating you like a dumb footballer)
To which, he may reply "yeah, going well thanks" or "really good, I'm really enjoying it"...
Conversations of substance...
Now stop confusing people here!!!!

Sorry Daniel, don't take it personally. I feel a bit awkward looking too far into the players' personal spaces.
I guess it depends if it is public information or not. Some people are able to ask "so what else do you do when you aren't playing footy?" but I find that too awkward.
Far easier for me to ask "how is the banking business going?" as the Courier Mail wrote about it.

Yes, I see your point. My bad and please accept my apology.
We are always looking for something to talk to the players about other than footy and this would help.
I'm still after something to talk to Lethal about so I don't have a repeat of my first embarrassing meeting with him! i.e. "how's this weather Leigh?" :o

I've not had the pleasure. I try to avoid being placed in such a situation. It's easier to hide.
Former players
Brett Voss has a secondary school teaching degree
David Maplestone has a journalism degree and a post grad teaching i am pretty sure
That is what we need, players putting back (I don't think Vossy has taught a day in his life)

Hasn't got as much to crow about these days.
Looks a shadow of the player he used to be.
His raw explosiveness appears to have gone. He is still highly skilled, but his propensity for doing the miraculous also appears to have faded.

One down year and your writing the champion off
As far as im concerned. This time last year he was very skinny and was getting put into a new environment etc.
This time around he is more of a front runner than a first year observer. He is 5 kg heavier than last year and looks in great touch.
I back him for a 35+ goal season :thumbsu:
