If Al took the Heathcote job he would have my support. I'm sure a lot of players would follow, even if he didn't ask. He's that type of guy.

Seems to me not many Macedon guys have followed him anywhere. Good player granted but it has always got to be about him. Promised to come back to Macedon after earlier disagreement about captaincy. Then Romsey upt the ante and he stayed.

He didn't play at Macedon very long. He's a lot more a Romsey player than a Macedon player.

Matt a little history lesson for you pal.

Juniors from under 10s to under 16s at Macedon then went to Cannons / school football and on to EDFL and then 2 years senior football at Macedon then to Romsey.
Don't forget his father and he were a driving force in the reforming of the Macedon F.C.

Understand the club is in a good position to retain all players.
The players are happy with the club moving forward without Searle as coach.

Key departures:
Aaron McNabb: Ovens and Murray League
Adam Holland : Ovens and King League
Drew Heath : Central Highlands League
Key Inclusions:
Stephen Ruane (Diggers Rest) money
Rob Shirley (Rockbank) money
James Duffy (Kilmore) money
Leigh Webster (Diggers Rest) family reasons
Lee Roberts (macedon) coming home

Sorry mate but who ever told you both of the "BURRA" boys are leaving are completly wrong both boys are in top form and shape and will be wearing the burra in 2007

TS please explain what you mean by this.

Heathcote as a country club is well placed within thier competition to be a continued powerhouse.. As a prospective coach it would be an excellent opportunity to start a coaching career..

I'm talking senior footy Half-full. I know about Al's playing career. He's very much a Macedon boy. But in this comp he has made a bigger name for himself as the Romsey captain rather than the ex-Macedon player. 98% of people on this thread think of Al Meldrum as a Romsey player and not a former Macedon player. He might of won the Bowen if stayed at Macedon for the full year when he won it, but it would have been very hard. He made the right move to head to Romsey.

That's not what I was saying. The point I was trying to make is that when you think of Al Meldrum you're more likely to think of him as the Romsey captain, rather than the guy that used to play at Macedon. I would be very surprised if anyone on this thread didn't know he was from Macedon.

DESPITE the Riddell District Football League finishing just 53 days ago, Lancefield footballers are keen to resume, even though there are still 158 days to go until next season starts.
On Monday night, the Tigers kicked off their pre-season training.
With a new coach in Chris Collins, it was clear that there was a keen group of footballers interested to see how Collins would go about business.
Over 25 players turned up for the light session, an amazing feat - considering the club had less than that at most training nights this year.
Collins not only introduced some new training drills to the players, but he spoke with excitement and enthusiasm that clearly lifted the group.
After a two-year stint at VFL side Bendigo Bombers, 20-year-old Collins will no doubt bring a wealth of experience and fresh ideas that will benefit the club.
One thing about Monday night that will no doubt please the club was the number of keen Under 18s players in attendance.
This year was the first that the club had not been able to field a thirds side for a long time.
With Wayne Kraus appointed as the coach of the Under 18s, he is looking for more interested players to sign up. You can contact him on 0414 440 102.
The club is also looking for interested trainers for next season, with remuneration available. Contact Ian Brown on 5429 1517 if you are interested.

Haha. You guys have been sucked in. Morgan is a terrible club man, thinks he knows a lot about footy and hasn't really done anything to stamp his mark as a player in this comp yet. Playing with him this year he made some really 'dumb' comments about the game was played. Money may not be the key, sour grapes about not getting the Romsey coaching gig may not be it either. But if wanted to get lessons from a good coach he would have gone to one of the Melbourne suburbs clubs.

Glen Hopkins is a good coach in this league, but still has no premiership with Diggers Rest. There is more to Morgan leaving than just opportunity.

PP stop crapping in your own back yard. Morgs was a great footballer for RFC for many years. For you to come out and mouth about like this is a disgrace. Brydon has a fantastic football brain. If you had have seen his application for the coaching job you would have been impressed!! He has been around and seen a fair bit of different footy. So knows what he is talking about!!
Stamp his mark?? You are kidding me. Just ask the diggers boys how he 'hasnt stamed his authority in the league during a couple of finals games at woodend over the years!! Im sure they wont agree. Open your eyes mate.
Stop talking dribble. I dont usually get on this but to read you mouthing about an ex teamate is totally unwarranted.
Pull your head in.

Good call launch, I agree that PP got it wrong. Morgs is a quiet bloke so to call him a terrible clubman isn't fair. He has played some absolute blinders for Romsey over the years, although his consistency wasn't the best. Still, I'm sure Lancefield and every other club in the comp would love to have him running around in their jumper next year.

Cam is not sure what he is doing yet! I spoke to him Saturday and he's in two minds as to what to do! A noteable comment he made, wa sthat he suffer's form OP, and that the some RDFL ground sjust don't suit him! Do many other clubs have player's like this who just can't play on rock hard grounds?

But as far as Wato goes, he's doing a pre-season runs with us and another club at this stage and will make his mind up soon!

interesting point u make pup23.i have only heard of the club signing one gun player at this stage.i think the club is looking after the players they already have.coz lets face it they werent far off the mark last season.diggers were the only team they failed 2 beat.but every club would be looking at filling a few spots with good recruits, otherwise they will be left behind.im not sure if your comments are words of advice for the club,or whether u have a few sour grapes u want 2 let out?

I have heard of travaille, this year on 2 seperate occassions he kicked close to 11 goals in half a game of football. does have ability and will definetly impact on this league.
The roos had a very good back line this year, and lacked a little up forward a club should have at least 2 dominate forwards that kick over 50 in a year. Huge boost for the roos if he makes the move to boardman reserve.

i can count at least 10 young kids at the club playing seniors or really good twos footy at lions which came from sunbury ie. sahlberg, sammut, coventry, casson, mitchell, powell x2 (anny and keegan) etc.. plenty of home brew there ts...also with the major country leagues as i stated there is a need for high profile players to keep up with the field ie. east point spending 250,000 this year the sunbury kangaroos wouldnt pay close to that in a decade let alone 1 year see my point ts so i think 10 home young kids is very good,

Do all of those players play regular senior football????

Really, your point was contradicted in your own statement.. You have just said that you have to buy players to be competitive yet you said a couple of posts earlier that it would be a shame to do that... I think there is a sense in the local sides of a fear of a successful Kangaroos side.. People have had an easy target to jaw off at for so long, things are changing and its not good for the people who for so long have tried to push the club down... Yes.. We will recruit, we weren't far away last year, and some improvements are needed.. We will do everything we can to make those improvements.. Our home grown kids will have every opportunity to make the side, it will be up to the work they do, in previous years we gave these guys no reason stay and at thier first opportunity they decided to try to mouth off about how pathetic we were and go running to opposition clubs, now we will cop it for not giving home grown kids a chance to play senior football, even though they have every opportunity to do so, because we have recruited some players..
We have recruited one player so far for next season, his name is Steve James from the Melton Football Club.. My question is where did Steve player junior football? Where did he start his Senior career after Calder? Are we giving our home grown talent a chance.. I would dare suggest that we are...

it was said in a joking manner to a fellow team mate.look at the previos posts, and u might see us joking about the size of biceps.obviously jamesy has a great set of guns.as 4 the ben johnson joke, perhaps me and jamesy can have a laugh about it next time we have a beer together.but maybe some of the people on this thread are too sensitive 4 my ways.if i thought it was true i wouldnt have said it

The RDFL could be taking it seriously as the State Government is looking at introducing a pilot drug testing program in community sport.

The Govt apparently wants to gather data on drug use in community sport.

The Govt is offering funding to community sporting organisations to adopt the program and have spoken to the RDFL by all accounts.

Now you'll have someone else taking the piss out of you Mongrel.

Wouldn't be able to ban anyone found to be using drugs. For example one of the Asthma drugs becidoide is a banned substance for elite sportsman but many asthma sufferers use it as a preventer. That is one example of a drug. Many Antiboitics are the same for the common flu.

Hey Mongrel those slimming pills may get u in trouble too
