See you simple collingwood supporter, most people have jobs. If you do not have a job, instead of bludging on the Dole everyone picks up a paper and looks for a job.
What was up with that!
A lot of organizations will have it that they have to advertise any open positions even if they have someone in mind.

I cut it out and stuck it on the fridge. hahaha I'd love a job at Geelong. Just a shame I have no experience... do you think it would matter? ;)

Classic.:thumbsu:
Thats concept is a mystery to most collingwood supporters
That said, most clubs would not put an ad in the paper for a position as seniot as assistant coach.

Garbage
Port. Brisbane, Sydney, Carlton Geeelong and North ahve all over recent tiems (last 4 years) put adds in the paper for Coaching roles.
You have to be stupid to think this is the only way they are trying to recruit, using agencies covers a lot of areas but where else do you advertise???

You are not filling the role of receptionist FFS.
There are only a certain small number of people who would be suitable for the role, what you would do would be to approach those that are desirable candidates individually and get them to express their interest and go on from there.
Thats typically the approach taken to fill most senior positions in business. This role seems even more specialised so why advertise in a paper where evey Tom, **** and Harry can apply and you need to waste time going through useless applications.

isn't it a legal thing?
i've heard stats purporting that something like 80% of jobs advertised are already/on the way to being filled.
i too thought WTF to the ad, then it passed...

If you can stereotype anything about most Collingwood fans it's this:
"they believe the Collingwood Football Club is the biggest, best and most important sporting club in Australia, nay the world"
Anyone heard of the MCC? It's this kind of blind arrogance that sh*ts anyone that lives in Melbourne.

Again
GARBAGE
While some Corporate/business positions are Jobs for the Boys, Most are advertisied even though it is seen as a waste of time (often the role is shortlisted long before the position is advertised).
What you get is covering all bases and for the sake of a 5 grand add in the national press it is worth it. Yes you will get idiots applying but that is what youalso pay an agency to ditch these that have no relevance to the criteria set out. If you get the best possible person out of it regardless of the fact it came from the add or the agency, they you will be happy.
I would rather spend the extra cash to find the best than save $$ and get a hack like we did last time.

I remember seeing an ad for AFL CEO after Wayne Jackson vacated the position. Surely any one of the applicants would have done a better job than Andy D.

I would think the MCC is a bigger sporting club than CFC

Yes the Melbourne Cricket Club, the point I was making was they are a bigger sporting club than CFC. And I'm sure they would survive if Collingwood took their games to the Docklands or better yet Princes Park. There would be many clubs that would put their hands up.
