There is so much threads about the Grand Final and everything. It's hard to cope at the moment, but every step we take, i think the loss is getting a bit easier to handle. Anyways, enough about the GF loss before i start crying again.

Season 2006: The Reigning Premiers

It was our time, our season to defend and claim another title, and hoping to win back to back. Prove to the 'experts' thats winning the 05 flag wasn't a fluke. I mean, winning a flag is totally not a fluke at all. Anyways, season 2006. A good way to forget about the GF and reflect our season.

So many things have happened this year where we can reflect and remember. Willo retiring, many new debutants and of course the Davis controversy. This year has been great, after a very slow start and then winning it 6 times in a row and unfortunatley losing to the Ainters by 2 points in the rain. Had a major midyear slump, losing 3 of our last 4.

After the Crows game, Roos claimed we had lost our hunger to claim and defend the flag. Clearly our turning point, and we lost to WCE the week after that by 2 points. It was a great game to watch, too bad we lost but i could sense our Swans were back. After the WCE we won all our remaining games, except for the Geelong one back in round 20.

At times our forwards were terrible and were very innaccurate. We managed to tackle that problem as our Swans forwards kicked 14 goals together at the Prelim.

We had new faces in the team: Teddy Richards, Doyle and Eski. Teddy had a very slow start and was dropped for 2 games to regain his form. The first of the season he wasn't great, his form was down and couldn't make decisions under pressure. However, he turned around and has become one of our greatest tall defenders for the Swans.

Doyle, an injury prone man and managed to play 8 games in a row, injury free, Played well in the GF and kicked a handful of goals. A great second ruckman. I dont think we need Spida, but if Roosy thinks we do, then so be it.

Eski, played for the Swans for quite a long time but missed out on the GF last year. Made a deal with Macca, promised each other they'll play with all their might and hope they'll play, if, swans made it into the GF. Eski, a great left foot kicker. Deadly accurate and is a very important player in the Swans backline.

And hail to Goodesy! Won the Brownlow, his second brownlow! The best players for the Swannies this year. A great influential player! Love Goodes!

We can get a lot out of 2006. We've seen some declines in some players, and major improvements in others. Season 2006 was a great season, our Swans fought hard and played for each other. Love the Swans!

Onwards to Victory! Onwards to 2007! and bring on the Ashes! :p

What do you think were the highlights of 2006? Greatest moments? Players? and etc. It's time reflect! :) (omg, i wrote so much!)

It's been a strange year, hasn't it?

It's hard to pick a highlight after losing the GF.. everything that happened before it almost feels like a waste (well, it does atm anyway).

I think this year will make us stronger though. :thumbsu:

I'm so excited about next year. I'm excited about seeing players like ROK, Buchanan, Malceski, McVeigh, Ablett and so on.. all getting better, improving and devolping even more. They all have so much potential so it's going to be exciting to see how their seasons go.

I'm missing them already. I can't believe we have to wait for another 6 months until we see them play again.

I'm excited too, i'm looking forward to see Richards. After the GF, hes becoming a good player! :)

Yup, after like the Eagles game in round 15.. that's when Teddy's turnaround really started. He became an important player at our club, so it's great to see him improving.

Ohh, i can't wait to see Adam playing either. After his Brownlow win and all. He's still only getting better.

.. and Baz! He'll be firing next year, you can be sure of it. He'll use what happened to him in the GF as motivation, he won't let it get in his way.

The turnaround from Teddy has been huge, and its postive impact for us anyways.

Bazza is going to fire! Ooo.. going to be a sweet season!

Ablett is one who needs to really step up. Don't get me wrong he had a good year but he has been there for awhile now so hopefully he can become one of our better players.

Luke did have quite a good second half of the season, it's was a real shame about his injury in the GF though. Hopefully next season he can gain more confidence and take his game to the next level.

He certainly looked more confident in the 06 GF than the 05 GF when he gave Cousins that goal at the top of the square.

He didn't do much though, he got injured early. I haven't seen what he did though really, seeing i was at the game.

this year has only made me more hungry for red and white. I had to buy the book "shake down the thunder" and I still plan to buy the DVD of this years GF because it was an entertaining match and will DEFINALTEY get my hands on the 2006 season highlights package, I think its called shaking the thunder or something like that

2006 saw the introduction of Simon Phillips,Heath Grundy and Tim Schmidt who will all be better players next year.I'm also looking forward to further development from Jared Moore and seeing how the club are going to use Luke Vogels. He could be used as a backman next season. These were all good things that happened as well as the points made earlier about Teddy and Nick Malceski.

Yes, it was excited seeing players like Flipper play. Hm, well not the first week he was selected.. or the second. After a few weeks i was able to laugh at it all though.

Low point - the whole Nick Davis stuff. Let's hope nothing like that happens again.

Nah, doubt it. Nothing will go wrong, after what happened. I think everyone has seen the consequences and everything.

I love Flipper, becuase he is soo small! Well compared to the other players, its cute! ;)
