I reckon he definitely should get another year. Potential FB.
Richmond:
Angus Graham - staying as a rookie
Jeremy Humm - delisted
Cameron Howat - decision to be made on whether to promote or keep as rookie
I reckon he definitely should get another year. Potential FB.
Ash Thornton is a much better prospect down back IMO. He was superb at the end of the year. So much so if he had started the way he finished he could of been promoted.

Definitely. But Thornton isn't really KP and Wilkes has been unlucky with OP this year. Unlike WCE not to give him another year considering.
Thornton definitely looks the goods, although his size and disposal still concerns me at times.
Don't forget that Wilkes played 16 games for Claremont, mostly at FB, in his first year on the rookie-list.

CARLTON
Elevate
Daniel Batson-some people say delist, some say elevate. I have a feeling he will be elevated as he is a ruck and we cannot afford to delist young promising ruck prospects.
Retain
Ryan Jackson-Depending on the number of delistings we have, he may be elevated. Played his first game in round 22 and looked the goods. Will definitely at least be retained.
Craig Flint-Boke his ankle during the season. Before that he was looking excellent, and may have gotten a call up later in the season if he hadn't been injured. Was looking excellent, and will definitely be retained
Aisake O'hAilpin-Developing ruckman, and is looking better than his brother. Will be kept on the rookie list for the 3rd year as he is an international rookie
Delist
Jesse Smith-sad story. I would like to see us re-rookie him as he has talent. Is tough and is a ball maget. Played 2 games for the Blues during the season, but was really crucified by the coaching staff as he got about 30 mins game time in both games combined. Would be very annoying if we just gave him the flick. Worth a 2nd rookie contract IMO.

No official word from the Hawks yet, but IMO
Mcentee - REROOKIE .... HAS SHOWED GOOD IMPROVEMENT THROUGH THE YEAR EVEN THOUGH HE WAS INJ. EARLY
Markovic - I WOULD REROOKIE, BUT LIKELY DELISTING...INJURY PLAGUED YEAR
Kane - DELIST - AC's LOVE CHILD THOUGH
Gilham - PROMOTE TO SENIOR LIST
Mcglynn - I DUNNO, THIS ONES THE TOUGHEST CALL. MAYBE ANOTHER YEAR ON ROOKIE LIST. ITS A LINE BALL DECISION.
Therefore only real certainties are
McEntee - Rookie 2007
Gilham - Senior list
Carlton:
Promote

Daniel Batson

we've got the easy one here.
western bulldogs:
re-list: none
de-list: tom davidson. (pi$$ weak effort to try and ressurect his career. Seemed to play as if he didn't want to hurt himself or get his clothes dirty all year. Pulled out of several games citing injury, although i believe the club thought he wasn't putting in the effort required)
Looking forward to the dogs taking 4 rookies this year for the first time.
Will be interesting to see what they do, Have had some success with boyd and morris, perhaps another werribee player might get a chance?
Jeremy Humm - delisted
Cameron Howat - decision to be made on whether to promote or keep as rookie
According to the richmond site both players have been promoted. Howart is looking to be kept on the senior list.
Essendon - Gone

For a start Jolley has to be promoted or redrafted.
Secondly Firman is a very good chance to be staying.

I believe Geelong will delist Batchelor, Hunt and Sherringham, have Grima as a nominated rookie, promote Slade and pick Lonegan as a rookie to give him time to recover.. thats if he decides to play again..
What style of player is Ash Thornton, and do you think other clubs might want to draft him?

Already gone: Justin Perkins
Promote: Djaran Whyman, Ed Lower
Delist: Scott McMahon
We have no small forwards anymore (gone/injured) so Whyman will be needed and he's regularly kicked 3-4 goals a game for N.Ballarat.
Ed Lower should be promoted, but at the moment, he is only a depth player. Could be kept on the rookie list for now, but will be promoted some time in the future.
Perkins showed something last year, duddish this year, he's gone anyway.
Scotty McMahon has been OK in the VFL, but nothing special about him, should be delisted.

Probably play as the 3rd tall. A tad under 190 but plays fairly tall. Other clubs won't draft him, he'll stay with us or nothing.
Thats what I never understand, why there isn't much (any?) poaching off rookie lists. Given how many get promoted each year (which is a lot), many (I think) after their second year on the list, I'd think a some club would pinch at least one rookie a year from someone else.
For example, if Carlton doesn't promote Ryan Jackson, should a side with a spare pick 50+ tell him they'll draft him and grab a player who's been in the system one year instead of a complete unknown?
Brisbane
Begley - Irish guy only picked up the ball this year and was promoted and played a couple of games by the end of the year. Will be kept on the rookie list next year.
Clark - big ruckman who is too old next year. What happens may well depend on if they can resign McDonald. Also may look to mature age rookie him next year given he has only played for a couple of years.
Forsythe - already gone.
Hamill - has shown some promise but not enough to get a promotion even when injuries hit hard. May look to give him a third year on the rookie list but could depend on who is available.
Harding - touch and go to get promoted. Promoted early in the year and played a fair few firsts games and looked like he could play at that level in some of them. If not promoted a cert for the rookie list next year.
Pask - already gone although unlucky imho. Played a few senior games and picked up some very big hauls in the reserves (23 goals in one 3 week stretch and a 10 goal performance later in the year).
Quigley - already gone.
Roe - certain to be promoted. Solid backman who if he can put on some weight would fit well into key position.
Stiller - certain to be promoted. The find of the year for Brisbane. Played about half the games this year and averaged over 20 possessions a game. Was a rising star nominee.

Collingwood Rookie List:
Alan Toovey (1st year)
Heritier O'Brien (2nd)
Daniel Nicholls (1st)
Shannon Cox (1st)
Delist: Noone
Promote: O'Brien (definately) (Nicholls and Toovey have shown alot, Toovey is highly rated but I doubt they will be on the senior list permanantly next year)
Draft: Martin Clarke - Irish Rookie from Down.
With a full list and two veterans in Burns and Bucks we have no more rookie list spots open.
I thought the international rookie list was seperate meaning we would pick up another rookie to fill the spot vacated by Harry.
According to the richmond site both players have been promoted. Howart is looking to be kept on the senior list.
That's just because they were promoted during the season, both are still actually rookies (until Oct 31 anyway). Humm has been told he's gone. Howat will be an interesting one as to whether we promote permanently or keep for another rookie year.
Hasn't Armstrong etc already been promoted?
To play a senior game you need to be on the senior list yes?

Sine - What are our ruck stocks like? They seem a bit thin and if Michael Embley gets the chop we should be looking for a long term ruck prospect - it would be unreal to get another like Coxy. Any thoughts on who might be available for a rookie ruck spot at the Eags? Presuming Mc Dougall gets traded.

I thought the international rookie list was seperate meaning we would pick up another rookie to fill the spot vacated by Harry.
As I said on the Collingwood board, although they are picked up the same way, Irish kids are not subject to the rule that allows teams to have an additional international rookie, presumably because all teams could probably find an Irish rookie if they wanted.
The extra spot for an international rookie is for if you want to look at a young African or Asian kid, for example.
Do you think Howat will stay as a rookie or be elevated?
its a tough one, he showed a bit late on but really he is only a squad player
would take him if jackson or the like were told to go but wouldnt rush in and sacrifice our 3rd or 4th round pick for him
i hope the club goes for talls for the rookie list, humm was a disgrace
if your gonna go for a reject he might aswell be tall or blistering pace not your run of the mill tagger/back pocket

Part of the distribution deal of all of the TV Contract money says that some of the money has to be used to pay for 4 rookie contracts, so every team will have at least 4 rookies from now on.

Yeah, he's an absolute gun.
I swear, if you add 5 centimetres to his height, he literally has no serious flaws as a player. It's kinda sad that a player of his talents slips through to the rookie draft because he's 176cms instead of 180cms.

Anybody know the situation with the three St.Kilda rookies?
1. Dylan Pfitzner, was promoted during 2005, de-listed and re picked up as a rookie, so has done one year or three, depends how you look at it.
2. Ed McDonnell has done two years.
3. Cathal Corr should be safe, has only been rookie for one year.

Don't know that Sam Hunt was all that terrible either, although him, Grima and Spencer are all pretty similar.
Yeah, Hunt is pretty decent. I guess the big problem is that he is not really a legitimate KPP, even at VFL level. The guy is 193cm but he runs and carries the ball out of defence like a 180cm bloke. If you played him at CHB in the AFL, Kepler Bradley style, you would look up to the scoreboard at the end of the night and see J. Brown - 10 goals, Hunt's bodywork just isn't up to standard to play KPP in the AFL. Ideally you would play him as the third tall rebounding off half back but I guess even then there would be doubts on his ability to read the play and at Geelong he would still be behind our inspired *cough* new choice captain and Milburn in that role. At the end of the day he is just a good player at VFL level that doesn't quite have enough tools to ever really hold down a spot in an AFL 22.
ps Hunt and Spencer are polar opposites. If Spencer had Hunt's pace and agility he would be a decent prospect.
Are you serious that you would de-list Slade? He seems to be one of the better kids running around in that VFL side. At least he's tough and has a go at it. He hasn't been totally overwhelmed at AFL level either. I suppose if you haven't made it by 22 though...
Slade might have a crack but that's not worth much when you give away 3 or 4 reckless free kicks and two turnovers that result in opposition goals every game. He is miles behind Jarad Rooke, behind David Johnson and about on par with Tim Callan in the pecking order and thus is not worth promoting and wasting a spot on list that is already becoming stale with limited footballers because hard decisions will not be made.

Humm was one of the stiffest players on our list, played 1 game for the season of which i think he had 15 posessions, was then dropped, from then on he was in our best players in the reserves week in week out.
