View Full Version : TV Ratings/Programming Week 40
The NRL GF rated better in the sporting capital of the universe than in Sydney, Brisbane also got close to the Sydney figure, and Nine won the night. Cirque du Soleil did ok (probably better than The Real Seachange will do next week without footy competition), so did Love Actually and Idol.

7. Love Actually (rpt) - 1.038 (+126k on Blackjack - both with Idol inflation)
8. Worst Jobs in History - 1.020 (-128k)

For the rest of the week...
Tonight - Money special will flop, but What A Year will do ok, Biggest Loser probably will too. Seven Adelaide has footy which might get them another half a point nationally.
Tomorrow - Same as last week
Wednesday - CSI Miami back, Survivor has no competition but will still struggle and NCIS will win 9:30 to get Ten the night.
Thursday - Jericho (which Ten should be encoring in a decent timeslot this week) will have a chance to reclaim those viewers it lost last week with Seven and Nine back to their usual lame programming. Nine will dominate 9:30 with RPA and Amazing Medical Stories back (except in Adelaide where the Magarey's on)
Friday - Who cares, Ten has their SMS movie, the rest is movies (except Adelaide again has a footy special on - the Crows' B&F)
Saturday - I think 10.5 rated ok last time, if that's on everywhere Nine will probably win the night, otherwise Ten's lineup is looking good - but they need to promote Out Of Practice more than just saying it's a Raymond clone.
Sunday - World's Most Stupid Criminals? - yeah that'll beat Idol and 60 Minutes . Starsky & Hutch and Super Size Me are the movies - 8 point win to Nine, could be 20 over Seven.

Premiere this week:
The Nine (Thurs - ABC/Nine)
There's a couple of American football themed shows, but they'll never make it here.
Returning this week:
Everybody Hates Chris (Sun)
All of Us (Sun)
Girlfriends (Sun)
The Bachelor (Mon)
Veronica Mars (Tues)
Lost (Thurs)
Trading Spouses (Fri)
Interesting that the NRL GF only had 39000 more viewers than the AFL GF in Sydney. I know the circumstances but still amazing.
Nine's already won the week...
The AFL wouldve flogged the Rugby League even more if Sydney kept the ratings up from last year. They were down a load on last years premiership which is a bit strange.
Nine wouldve won by more last night if they hadve showed the damn post-match celebrations instead of a crap repeat movie.
7 News, Today Tonight, Home & Away, Idol, Mythbusters, SVU and Criminal Minds did well, the networks would be disappointed with the results for the rest, particularly Nine and What A Year

Gee, Greys was down a bit, considering the competition.....Biggest Loser didn't do too well, i thought they could've promoted it better....hopefully they get the Aus version back on sooner rather then later..
The SVU repeat did quite well, when do they actually put the new ones on, is it some network thing they do with NCIS, House, SVU and CI.....seems odd they show repeats then new ones, then back to repeats..
Was it Survivor that got booted off US tv for being too racist or something like that...? I hate the concept they are introducing and hope it gets terrible ratings, whoever thought of it should be shot.

Yeah. Brisbane v Melbourne certainly wasn't a hit in Sydney!!! Shows how parochial and fickle the Sydney fans are. If there had been a Sydney team in the NRL Grand final, you could probably add 300,000 or more onto that figure. On the other hand, the Melbourne AFL figure didn't seem to suffer too much from no Melbourne team. Mind you, Melbourne people have had a couple of years to get used to it, haven't they? ;)

Every year is the same. He gets ratings that warrant an axing, but he gets renewed. Hopefully this season is it.
Maybe he and Tench can collaborate on a project for Channel 31.

rove looks like on his last breath. his ratings are shocking. Even the Wedge is doin better than him.
Didn't the Rugby beat the AFL?
Mmm I didnt communicate it too well now I look back. I meant on a national scale rather than Sydney ratings.

With Heroes, their only downfall is that they are using the same method as the writers uses with Lost (i.e. really slow storytelling). But really, they are in danger of losing the patience of the american audience. Interesting series though.
Is Rove in any danger of being cut because they are truly horrendous figures?
His ratings might be shocking but I'm pretty sure he'd be leading the target audiences.

I think he is in the same boat as Neighbours....gets pretty poor ratings (compared to the competition), but wins their target audience.....although wasn't it the Wedge that wasn't doing too well in its 'target' audience?
Tuesday night 16-39:
1. 7:30 Simpsons
2. 8:00 Futurama
3. DWTS
4. Neighbours
5. H&A
6. CSI (rpt)
7. 7:00 Futurama
8. Real Stories
9. 20 to 1
10. All Saints
The Crash of the Century delivered Seven a shock win. It's no big surprise that Nine had a bad night, but they'd be very disappointed that there was a close 3 way fight for the 8:30 title and they weren't in it. McLeod's beat Seven but is nowhere near the numbers it got before they took it off.

Terrible premiere for Friday Night Lights, Help Me Help You and Smith both down on already ordinary ratings. Justice is showing some signs of being extended - they've ordered 3 more scripts.
Good number for TGYH.....Temptation jumped a bit, what is with that?
Strange to see ACA and 9 news beat is opposition...is there certain days that tend to swing to one channel with the 6:00-7pm line-up?
I'll let you post the ratings for Thursday Russian....Jamie's Kitchen won the night with a pretty low figure for a winning spot...something like 1.25 or close to..

The champ had reached the level of the car and I think took it and the prizes and ran. It seems that the longer a champion stay, the figures seem to go up to see if they stay or get knocked out
14 shows over a million, none over 1.3 - Bones seems to have benefited from the extra exposure last week, but RPA's numbers were pretty good too. Jericho ok

The Nine did ok but nothing more, lead-in Lost's numbers weren't brilliant against a repeat of House, Jericho slipped, One Tree Hill lost half of its lead-in, and the rumoured-to-have-been-cancelled Kidnapped showed why - The Biggest Loser and a repeat of Friday Night Lights left NBC just above cellar dwellers The CW for the night.
Programming
In: The 4400 (Sunday late), Medical Investigations (midday), Tripping Over (Wednesday 8:30), the real Cold Case finale (Monday 9:30)
In (and soon to be out): That's Gold (Seven 20-1, Sunday 7:30), Big Questions (Jules Lund, Thursday 8:30)
Out: The Sopranos (to midnight), Midnight Zoo, The Office, Queer Eye, House, 2.5 Men
Most of that's the week beginning October 22
