Good players dont usually leave, i wouldnt be counting on thornton going anywhere just yet.

If he does leave, im still struggling to see the sense in moving a 22 year old KP defender on.

Speculation at the moment, Joel Perry is not happy with a one year contract and may be traded. Good young KP defender, I'd be dissappointed if he did leave.

I read on BF last week that Fisher (and Betts) had re-signed with Carlton. Good to see 7 reporting current news.

I'm pretty certain they sign over power of attorney to their manager's to make the deal if going overseas.

If Perry end up at Freo or West Coast i would reckon north would want a 2nd rounder or a young player for him. But i wouldnt want him leaving. Most north supporters will be really pissed off if his traded coz his come in leaps and bounds to get were he is now.

Yeah but that's pretty unprofessional IMO.
I think that is what happened when Hamill left Carlton as well.

It's something we haven't done. With all your expertise on bottoming out could you shed some light on the exercise?

Not unprofessional, happens all the time. They don't give managers completely free reign, just sort out the details to get them signed with the club they want for the length they want and about the right price. There are a lot of other fine details that need to be resolved, that's the managers job.

I suppose you make a good point there, but IMO before a player leaves for holidays (esp when he is out of contract) he would state publicily whether he is staying or not. I've heard so many contrary reports I don't know who to believe, although a lot of Carlton people are confident he is staying.
