... and have had designs on him wearing red and white since about 1997... I no longer think he's a value 'get'.

Hawthorn fancies that he's worth a first rounder or early second rounder. This is unrealistic, but that's probably beside the point to a certain extent. Roos has already ruled out (foolishly, in my opinion) trading away picks 15 or 33 (16 and 34 :( ). That means that any trade for Everitt must, realistically, involve a (probably young and already proven) player.

I do not wish to trade such a player for a ruckman who is 33 in May.

Thankfully, there is another option. Clark Keating has already been delisted by Brisbane. He is a strong chance to still be available at pick 49 in the national draft. He is 31 in March, and whilst he has suffered from regular injuries, he probably still has as many games left in him as Spida. Most importantly, he has proven his worth as a big game player.

I would love to see either of them in red and white next year. With Keating, however, the price is right.

He was referring to his two deceased brothers - I didn't know until this morning that he lost another brother - Dane - to sudden infant death syndrome.

Puts Saturday into perspective, doesn't it?

Nice quote. And it really does put the loss in a different perspective. I just realised it's not the end of the world. However, I'm shocked cos i thought he only lost one brother, but 2? omg...

And relating back to the thread. I don't want Everitt. He is talented and all but, meh.

Never thought of Keating. He's a risk, fitness-wise, but I always liked Keating. A great, great player when fit.

Haven't heard much about Keating. Is he actually looking for a new club? I reckon he'd be a bigger gamble injury-wise than Spida. Mike Sheahan on the Couch mentioned he's only played 170 games in his whole career - that wouldn't be too many full seasons, I'd have thought. They called him Mr September for a reason, I guess.

As for Everitt, I think people should start to get used to the idea. Heard Leo Barry on the radio this morning endorsing Spida should he want to come to Sydney.
