Well is anyone going to let us know the news or even when the VAFA will release it.

Been a pretty disrupted preseason, hard to know what it will be.

The offending club relegated 2 divisions (say B to D1) meaning one club is promoted from D1 to C and one from C to B.

Is that the penalty for clubs breaching player payments?

The last penalty to my knowledge was St Bernards in 89' or 90". They were found to try and Poach a player with incentives and were automatically suspended for the year thus immediaitely relegating them for the following year. I'm pretty sure the player was Terry Young (ex Fawkner)

I am sure the clubs who find themselves playing against a club that should be 2 grades higher would be wrapt ?

How great it was to play at Mutton Res and watch the ferrals come out at half time from the bowling club with a gut load of fluid and cheer Terry on.

Old Melburnians - 2000(?) - Andrew Topakas - Old Brighton - investigation - failure to disclose Oakleigh VFA payments - points stripped - MHSOB survived and OMs went to B grade

Well i am tipping that a team that was promoted has been found guilty of player payments, therefore will be relegated instead- which means eg from B to D1- therefore 3rd in C to B(if they agree) and 3rd in D1 to C-(this is a far better option thatn holding onto a relegated club- who will struggle as they have already lost players

but am guessing this is yet another false tip- at least someone could come up with mroe info- at least the grades involved..

Are we talking night clubs, football clubs or perhaps the gay clubs you frequent in Commercial Road?
I would suggest there would only be one club in D Section, actually the whole of the VAFA who are a serial 'match payment' club. In fact, a former VAFA State rep allegedly recently knocked back a nice financial offer to play with this dirty club and took his wares up to the Murray.
Hopefully, the VAFA finally has the balls to do something about these Nazis. Hopefully, one or Two of them will be singing the Blues.

Why would D1 clubs be "paying people for years"?

Suggestions of Carey and Pahran paying people are amusing at best. Carey are an easy target because they are starting to have some success. Likewise Prahran, as they have a relationship with a venue. If both were paying players, neither would have been playing in D1 in 2006.

Having said that, if in the next week or so the truth comes out suggesting otherwise, I am happy to be called a fool (again).

Conduct, all people involved with one particular Diamond Valley Club know for a fact that a player from that club is getting paid. They tried to get him back this year only to be told that the offer couldn't compete with where he was at. This player also played state footy last year!

Also, shopping for love player was tempted by an offer to be playing assistant coach this year. FACT!!! He decided to stay with the club where he won a premiership last year.

If it verified by the vafa then the team should be kicked out and not dropped down the divisions thus affecting teams in lower grades!!

I will. It is absolutely ripe around the VAFA that you offered to buy a particular person white goods and pay his bills for him when he turned up to training with you guys a few weeks ago. You then told him he was overweight and sent him packing. This guy is a former AFL draftee, a decorated VAFA rep player at U19 and Senior Level, a Premiership player in the VAFA from 2004 and an absolute superstar and great bloke. You are scum and you will take a huge fall one day. What a bunch of perennuial losers, I hope you are disqualified from the VAFA this year and relegated two grades.

Why would Prahran offer Mattheiu Lucas money?
I'd have thought playing with Paul Greenham would be enough of a lure, maybe it's not all its cracked up to be, and he needs additional incentives???

Personally, I'd have thought Matty would be fine about playing for the love of the game again. :o

Very poor form Concrete. What is your name? Matty didnt ask for or want incentives, they were allegedley offered to him. Dont go and dirty his name on this thread, it is a p issweak thing to do.
The Two Blues are only one stat dec away from double relegation, and if they think they can blame Lucas, then they deserve to get their punishment. Lets hope Sholls does the right thing by all of us other 'clean' ammo clubs.

Agreed Crazy. I am sure that all the clubs in D3 would be looking forward to seeing a D1 club play in their division this season .....???

What do we think about .....if PROVEN to be the case .....

* Fine them ( they sound like they have the cash ).
* Start them 16 points in the red - in D1 for season 2007
* No promotion for 2 years
* person (s) involved in the offer - suspended from any active level of the club.

Relax, if found guilty they would be not permitted to play this year at all, then relegated 2 sections at the end of the season.

But thank you I am very relaxed.;)

Jeez that'd hurt the club if they weren't permitted to play: if players head elsewhere for a kick and have a good year, would they come back? potentially club-breaking decision there...

Anyone who enquires with the VAFA will be informed that it is their common approach to interview players who are changing clubs and going down a section or three to determine why they are leaving their old club.

This is more likely to occur with high performing players, such as State Reps or club/comp B&F performers. The focus is more why they are NOT staying with their old club, rather than why they are going to their new club.

Pretty simple really, and it shouldn't be viewed as a witch-hunt against the club which has benefited from the move.

I drank from a fountain located at the corner of Glenhuntly Rd and St Kilda St, Elsternwick. I was interested to find out what was going on re: players/clubs being interviewed, and the VAFA guys told me what it was about. Simple really.

the same things come up every year about clubs paying players. Nothing ever happens and it is not because they are not paying it is because they are too smart to get caught. Everyone knows it happens so lets not pretend it doesnt.
