Anyone else finding it incredibly hard to stop thinking about the game?

I have my exams in 3 weeks i cannont focus at all to study. If they won i know i'd probably be the same, but it's driving me crazy. Usually i can just tune out from football, unfortunately it's not working atm.

Try getting off Bigfooty for a while. If you're constantly reading things about the game (and posting things yourself), you're actually not trying too hard not to think about it.

That's another problem.. i can't. I feel like i have to read about it. Maybe i should just unplug my entire computer so then i can't go on even if i want to.

I can't stop thinking about it either. However, lucky for me i've already finished my Prelim exams. But that was during the finals series and i found it hard to tune out from Football aswell. I didn't know how i could manage it.

Nat, you should stop posting. You've got your HSC exams... very soon. And yes, unplug your computer, strap it with chains and lock it behind a cupboard or something.

Yeah - I'm the same - not too sure why. I think it was that there were so many missed opportunities. I felt like I wish I was playing again and could have helped out (not that I was ever good enough to AFL standard) if you know what I mean.

Nat you have your exams to think about, there is always next year for the swans. If you plan on going to university (I only say this because most fellow HSC students I know, plan to) then you really need to study for the next three weeks to get a good UAI. Take it from me, footy could have cost me my TAFE diploma last year. I got so caught up in the euphoria of the premiership win and it was lucky my finals were held in November

Knowing that the boys will be motivated by it is easing the pain.

Nope, i'm not going to uni so i don't have to worry too much about my marks. Ah, in some ways i do but then again, i don't really know what i'm doing like after March of next year.. so i should take that into consideration. It's just hard because for the next 3 weeks i'm not at all school and i've got to stay home and study.. but i can't concentrate and then i need to use the internet to get notes and stuff and then i'm like "might just check for any new articles" and stuff like that. Not good.

Just subscribe to all the threads you want then have a break from Big Footy and footy in general until after your exams.

I can't stop thinking about it, either. Great feeling.

Seriously, though, 12 months ago I was the same. If you're anything like I was, the pain won't go away. It'll be a long summer, and an even longer footy season.

I didn't really enjoy a lot of football this year. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the wins as they came. But my mind was completely focused on getting that premiership.

That grand final win just completely wiped last year's pain away.

I'm not sure how it is for you. Maybe the 2005 win eases it a bit, because it was so recent. But maybe that burning desire will remain for a lot of you, and for your team.

You're going to be pretty damn tough to beat in 2007, that's for sure. I've said it before, that you had that hunger coming off a premiership win, so coming off a grand final loss, how bloody hungry will you be?

As for my own club, while I'd love for them to go back-to-back, I think they may drop off a bit, ever so slightly. I'm tipping, tentatively, a Sydney-Fremantle grand final in 2007, with the Swans winning it. Hopefully by 4 points. ;)

I am in Perth so you could imagine what it is like for me with the media still going on about it. I can't escape it.

I am looking forward to the cricket now, go the Aussies.

And thanks for the kind words, appreciate it.

Happy day. Today is the first day I didn't wake up thinking about the GF. Possibly it's Trade Week getting my mind focused on the big year we have ahead of us! Pretty relaxed and really looking forward to 2007 now. :thumbsu:

Thats a good sign! I still haven't stop thinking about it becuase the 2006 Swans poster is right there on my wall. I wake up and see them smiling, and the first thing comes to my mind is the GF! :p might take me a while to forget. Damn, and its the holidays... no school to distract me! :( :thumbsd:

^I'm the same as you, i've got some of the photos of me and the players on one of the boards in the my room.. so when i wake up, it's there.. it's hard to escape. It doesn't help that i'm on school holidays either, so i can sleep in.. seeing i just lay there and think about it.

Lucky, i want some pictures of me and the players as well! Sleeping in is a great thing, but lying there after you wake up, you do seem to think about it. :( :thumbsd:

Yup, it's awful. I don't want to take my Swans stuff down either.. i'll feel disloyal but i would like to stop thinking about as soon as i wake up every morning. -Looks at photo of Barry- "If only Barry Hall wouldn't have missed his shots on goal.." Very annoying.

That could have been my problem. I've got a signed geurnsey from 2003 and the 2005 WEG poster framed in my bedroom. Kinda exacerbated things for me over the last week for sure. :D

This lose will hurt and is still hurting for a long time. Probably until GF Day 07 when the Bloods grace the MCG against the Eagles again

So how did you stop thinking about it? I'm still having trouble, and to make things worse. I've been having GF dreams over and over again... :( It hurts!

It's interesting. I didn't receive one msg from firends for a full week after the Grand Final cause they knew i would be shattered. Had a 21st on Grand Final night and when i hadn't got there by 9pm got a call checking if i was ok. Been miserable all week:thumbsd: , lacked sleep because of the thoughts swimming round in my head:thumbsd: and only today have i gone back to wearing anything with a swans logo. The watch made a return today.:thumbsu:
But then life has a way of putting things in perspective which is what has happened. Never thought i would say this ever but it is only a game and despite it being a passion for most of us, there will always be a next year in football

I love your love for the swans, its really beautiful and I'm sure if i were in Oz i'd be the same (in terms of struggling).

*tip*. Stay away from bigfooty and the newspapers. :thumbsu: :) do your exams and then get angry ;)
