ok at st kilda... 1's made 300 +, quiney 85, jewell 50 odd, rummo 50 odd, warren 60 odd.
footscray were 8/140 with not many overs to go... so unless a miracle occured i'd say the saints got up... warney got 4. (he made 27 as well)

the 3's, beat footscray 180, passed 9/181, was a close match but we got up.

When I left Frankston chasing 231 were 7 for 200 with about 2 overs left so doubtful they won. But they should of won, but were cost by Ben Clements 16 year old who made 49 off 90odd balls. Just way to slow for a first eleven cricketer, just couldnt find the gaps to keep it ticking over.

MOSS ON FIRE

07/10/2006
http://premier.cricketvictoria.com.au/plugins/newsfeed.cgi?rm=content&plugin_data_id=15256
All-rounder Jonathan Moss and Carlton batsman Ben Fletcher both made stunning debuts for their new clubs today in the opening round of Victorian Premier Cricket for season 2006/07. Moss and Fletcher, along with the Hawks' Keith Perumal, Bombers' skipper Brent Hutchinson and Blues' quick Nick Austin were the stars.
Moss, who has crossed to Camberwell Magpies from Prahran, scored a brilliant 110 and followed up with 3/11 with the ball as the Magpies (6-264) easily accounted for last season's runners-up Fitzroy Doncaster (137). Already with injuries to pace bowlers Dirk Nannes and Ben Waterman, the Lions' misery continued when skipper Lloyd Mash broke a finger in the field and, although he batted, he only made 2.
Carlton (3/190) comfortably overhauled Richmond (189), with former Essendon bat Ben Fletcher (89no) in good touch. The Tigers failed to capitalise on a good start - they were 4/153 - when left-arm quick Nick Austin ripped through the tail. Rested after a first spell of 0/18 from three overs, Austin returned to finish with 5/27 from 7.3 overs as Richmond lost its last six wickets for just 36.
St Kilda (4/294) celebrated the unfurling of its eighteenth CV premiership pennant with an easy win over the Bulldogs (174). Rob Quiney (85), Graeme Rummans (52) and Nick Jewell (50) all batted well, whilst Shane Warne, with a rapid 27 and 4/34 from his 10 overs, also made a good contribution.
Last season's wooden spooners Hawthorn-Monash Uni (3/202) made a great start with a solid win over North Melbourne (9/201 - Clint Hillas 57). Stars for the Hawks were Keith Perumal, who scored his maiden Premier century before being run out for 102, and former Swan Steven Spoljaric (43 & 3/33) with a fine all-round performance.
In other matches, Melbourne (1/162 - Andrew McDonald 71no, Grant Baldwin 55no) thumped Ringwood (6/161 - Sean Flynn 82no), Melbourne Uni (7/123) won a tight match against Northcote (122), Dandenong (146) just held out Geelong (138 - Paul Boraston 4/33) in another thriller, Prahran (9/231 - Neil Schlittler 74, David Hussey 58, Bryce McGain 55no, Darren Groves 4/14) held off Frankston Peninsula (9/213 - James Miller 54) and Essendon (4/250 - Brent Hutchinson 94no) defeated Casey-South Melbourne (230 - Roger Sillence 72, Englishman Samit Patel 4/52).

Frankston Peninsula: Stephen Stubbings will not appear with the Heat this season as Derbyshire have requested he stay at home. Kenyan Kennedy Obuya will not play for the Heat opting to play in the MPCA this season.

Not Entirely correct MRobbo.
Stubbings was given a Two-Year contract at Derbyshire, and everyone at Frankston Peninsula are absolutely rapt that he has finally got this stability.

Obuya was released by the Heat after a dismal year. He is NOT playing in the MPCA, contrary to popular belief.

Good start to the premier year. A couple of good all-round performances e.g. Jon Moss, and a couple of suprises. I doubt that many would have picked Dandenong to beat Geelong, and not many would have selected Hawthorn to beat North.

Anyone heard of Perumal for Hawthorn? Looks as though their top order is solid, though never heard of Adams and Steveson? Spoljaric slotted in and took 3 fa and made 40.

I saw Perumal last year. Don't remember much about him though. Stevenson is a slight, blond right-hander who made a couple of decent scores last season too. Bit of a 'nurdler' - very good at finding the gaps (particularly behind square) but not a great shotmaker as yet.

He must be a fair player if he can take apart a quality trundler like Marantelli. I'm mates with Nick Jewell and he rates Marantelli in the top 3 bowlers in the state. Word is that Greg Shipperd is keen to play him also. Your thoughts on Marantelli MRobbo?
