Some guidelines for posting on the Draft and Trading Board.

We are trying to run a board that contains high-quality info for people with a genuine interest in the draft / trade process. Large numbers of threads on made-up people, local footballers and people with no realistic prospects, off-topic rants, attacks on school kids and blatant self-promotion do not help us achieve this goal and will be deleted.

1. No self-promotion. We understand that you are curious about your self/son/friend/schoolmate etc and want to see the name in print. It only serves to embarrass a kid who is working hard. Don't self-promote because it is ridiculous.

2. No abuse. An AFL player has chosen his career and the public scrutiny that comes with it. School kids have not. It is a tense time for them; they don't need to be subjected to insults.

3. No 'outing' of people. If someone wants to reveal who they are then that is their choice. If a player / parent / coach is posting anonymously then that is their choice too.

4. Keep it to one thread. We don't need 10 threads on every player. Use the search feature and post on appropriate threads. We don't need dozens of threads on the one topic. We don't need every BigFooty member starting their own top-10 thread or phantom draft.

5. No games. If you want to engage in fantasy trading or other such games take it to the game board.

6. Don't post rubbish. The mods reserve the right to remove low quality posts which do not contribute to the debate. Similarly we will delete speculation which we think is complete nonsense. We don't need threads with rumours suggesting Chris Judd is going to be traded for six delistment-bound plodders. If you feel your genuine rumour has been unfairly deleted contact a mod and ask to have it reinstated.

7. Think twice before posting. We get a lot of posts from people who haven’t seen kids play, but then post their opinions on them based on what they have read. You are of course welcome to join in the discussion but we wouldn't like the recycling to outweigh the original contributions.

8. No one liners – if you don’t have something to add: then maybe you should think twice about posting? We don’t need lots of posts simply agreeing with (or disagreeing with the post before). At the very least take the time to post a reason.

9. No footy talk. Discussion of junior leagues / games should be kept to a minimum. We tolerate discussions of TAC under-18s, WAFL Colts etc because that is where most of the players come from. However technically those discussions should be on the Regional Leagues board. Try to keep them to one thread.

10. Thread titles. If you are starting a thread on a junior player please include the player’s full name (correctly spelt) and his junior club. This will help others search for (and find) the correct thread – eg. Joe Bloggs – East Somewhere.
