I noticed in the draft order posted at the top of this forum the following. Freo - Pick 13, Adelaide 14, Sydney 15 and West Coast 16. I thought it was decided on finshing order at the end of the regular season? In which case it would be Sydney 13, Freo 14, Adelaide 15 and West Coast 16.

Can anyone confirm/deny that for me please?

Also - the 'rookie' draft - how is that different to the 'normal' draft? Or is it basically one more round of drafting for those young fellas that missed out?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

The order has NOTHING to do with the regular season for finals participants, except where a team has finished at an equal stage of the finals as another team.

That would be correct.

Also what you said about the rookie draft is pretty much true, although i believe for a kid, being on a rookie list is a lot tougher than being drafted onto the senior list, so in the rookie draft you are probably looking more for kids with a high work ethic and good attitudes who want to work their butt's off to make it. I think there is a rule against rookie drafting bottom aged players too? And probably some other rules and regulations i'm not aware of

Draft order set after the finals, so St. Kilda get pick 9 whereas WC get pick 16 and Sydney pick 17.

The rookie draft is simliar to the national draft, only Brisbane and Sydney have their players that they pick from their own states, and rookie players are paid half of normal players (I think) so there is slightly different tactics (i.e. you don't look there for a major KPP or a gun midfielder, just extras).

Also, I'm not entirely sure but the rookie draft has no PP, and the picks can't be traded, ditto PSD.

How does Sydney get pick 17. It will go like this

#9 St.Kilda
#10 Collingwood
#11 Bulldogs
#12 Melbourne
#13 Fremantle
#14 Adelaide
#15 Sydney
#16 West Coast
