Apparently just reported on SEN Nathan absolutely smashed the Speed (20m) record at the draft Camp.

Edited: yep sorry Nathan.

Is he any good? Are North looking at him as a F/S or what?

I hear Steve Gaertner equalled Delido's time in the 20 metre sprint and had 77cm for vertical jump.
That was at the 16s AIS camp just before the under 18s.its not bad for a 16 yearold and he is 196cm too

I've seen him play and he does have super skills but the big worry is that he is 62kg and plays very, very, very outside.

62kg. Anyone know his height?

Didn't smash it - Was .04 off the record.

62 kg is just too small. He would get snapped in half in an AFL match. He would be lucky to get rookie listed.

182cm.

Yep... Because nobody in history has ever put on weight.

IIRC, Aaron Davey and Danyle Pearce both weren't much heavier than that when they got drafted.

Are you sure he is 62kgs, that just dosnt sound right for an 17/18 year old trying to forge an AFL career.

Does putting on weight affect one's speed at all?

Depends on the player.

Chris Tarrant and Rhyce Shaw both went from being absolute sticks to have very strong bodies and never lost a yard of pace.

However, IIRC, James Hird bulked up once and lost quite a bit of pace.

This bloke could surprise a few and go very early.

More likely to play up with your endurance. 'Muscling' up can have a positive effect on your speed.

I suppose the thing to do is look at the difference between the physique of a sprinter and a distance runner

Sprinters generally look well muscled to me, but long distance runners are lean and mean. If he's a forward pocket he may be able to play lighter, but he'd get smashed on the ball.

Pearce was 70 kg + when he got drafted... 62 kg is just . I doubt he'll be able to put on 18kg.. He'll probably be 75kg at most.

Macca I usually have a great respect for your point of view but am completely on the other side re Kraks. I honesty believe that if his surname was Smith he would not be at draft camp.

He probably will get a guernsey but I do not think it will be high.

dang, if he gets drafted he would have to put atleast 8 kilos on before he even gets a game

Fair enough. He may well slide like you are saying, but he definately has the capacity to go highly IMO. Wallace may well have fallen in love with him after his sprint time.

I'd laugh at the club that took him 'high'. Waste a pick when you could take him later in the draft.

Yep he is definetly 62kgs.

Do you know where I could find any other images of the draft camp?

All the kraks have been relatively lightly built. Jim and Phil were relatively strong for their size.

If he has good ball skills then he might get taken with a later pick and to try and pip the clubs thinking about sticking him on a rookie list.
