Nice work. Pity about J5 calling it quits though. I really rate Young Einstein from Ugly Duckling as a DJ too.
Speaking of sample fiends, I heard the other week there'll be a new Avalanches album out soon - with more of a hip hop vibe to it. 6 years in the making, it's wan't to be good! :D

Bought Blunt Magazine 'sarvo. Good compilation disc on some known/unknown rock bands, though I must admit Blunt's quality in compilations had decreased with time.
Nonetheless, a CD at a cheap price with a magazine isn't much of a loss in terms of money.

Ocean Rain- Echo & the Bunnymen
Now into my 1980's post punk phase, again.
Well if you knew who I was, you would never associate who i am to the music i listen to - people who know me are usually gobsmacked at what i listen to and unlike what any of my brethren or fellow BF posters have listed, links provided to give you a taste if interested:
1. Superjoint Ritual - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NewEBRKFwXg
2. Down - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmsGaDUmH9U
3. Suicidal Tendencies
4. System of a Down
5. Arch Enemy
Pretty much has to be really hard and loud - All those close to me reckon i am a closet bogan - i can live with that because i certainly don't fit the sterotype that a corporate lawyer has and believe me i have accidently terrorised many a client when they have gone to get in the car and i turn the ignition having forgot to turn the volume down and it literally blows them out of the car - but usually makes for a good laugh.

Right now I have a song by Paul Kelly on repeat. That song is Peace, it can be heard in that somewhat famous Al Pacino speech from the movie Any Given Sunday. It is actually the instrumental to the hardcore rap band Jedi Mindtricks' song On The Eve Of War.
The speech is quite touching, too. It can be applied to all aspects of life, rather than sport itself.

Hey Rohan, coincidentally, I looked for We Are Scientists' With Love and Squalor (album colour in earlier post) at JB today but they didn't have any, even thought they had a label marking the spot.
I also looked for Film School's new CD Hideout, but JB didn't stock it (only one Sydney store did).

Person Pitch by Panda Bear...
Have not stopped playing this one since its purchase, many thanks to the Gent who gave me the heads up. :thumbsu:
Rightly or wrongly, Pitchfork may dominate a lot of current musical opinion but for me they have got it right awarding this the 2007 album of the year.
Track #5 - “Good Girl/Carrots” is simply an amazing 12 minutes plus of “Liars meets Pet Sounds spirit music”
Person Pitch is less likely to be a social experience. This is a headphones record. Still, despite its inward focus, Person Pitch doesn't feel closed-off. Sometimes when I'm listening, I imagine what it might have been like to make it. I picture Lennox at his computer borrowing sounds and samples from odd places and shaping them into something personal and true. It seems like something to aspire to. With its bright harmonies, loops that veer from lulling to ecstatic, and reverb that lends each sound a hazy twinkle, Person Pitch feels friendly and conversational, if beautifully streaked with psychedelic disorientation. But mostly, it just feels overwhelmingly positive and unfailingly generous. --Mark Richardson - - Pitchforkmedia.com

Quite clever. They are a NY group with more of a Brit post-punk sound.
Don't suppose anybody else has heard of them yet. BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7163404.stm) has tipped them to be big. Their CD received a great review from the Guardian (http://music.guardian.co.uk/rock/alexispetridis/story/0,,2246093,00.html).

Anyone else catch them?
Sure did. Flew down to Brissy to see them on the Friday night then Meshuggah w/ Alchemist on Sunday night. Meshuggah was by far and away the most intense pit I've been in. Was absolutely awesome. Haven't listened to anyone elses music since I got home. I had nothing to play whilst away, and was majorly inspired watching Thornendal play so I have more ideas than I can poke a stick at and they're all slowly getting purged. For any fans here that are unaware, Soundwave Festival is touring Oz in Feb `09 (www.soundwavefestival.com) and will include Lamb of God, Alice In Chains and In Flames among some other pretty big names :D Tickets will be a bit pricey but with a lineup like that it's well worth it.
