Could anyone who say last nights game tell me who they thought played well and what postivies and negatives came out of the game.
For ¾ of last nights game we were absolute ****e. Couldn't piece together a forward move to save ourselves. Luckily though, it all clicked for a brief spurt in the 3rd quarter when we piled on 7 goals to 2.
Positives:
Adam Houlihan looked really dangerous up forward, kicking 4 goals.
Andrew Krakouer has more skill in one fingernail than most other players could hope to accumulate in 10 lifetimes. Some of his play was absolutely brilliant.
David Rodan moves well and is very strong. His lack of height won't be an issue as he didn't appear too small but will need to do some work on his kicking.
Knights looked as sharp as I've seen him for a number of years.
When the likes of Tivendale, Fiora and Hall are running through the midfield, we look like a very quick team.

Pretty much spot on there Chris. Ray Hall was towelled up early but Gardiner but fought it out well to be a good contributor on the night.
Bowden was b.o.g in my opinion last night. I hope Ottens gets over his fumble fingers soon. :(
Mooster WE WON this week!!

:D :D
Yup, I saw that. Anymore, I don't believe everytning I read. ;)
I waited for TT's e-mail before I came to any real conclusions.
He seemed excited that Adam Houlihan had performed better than expected. Thoughts?
I still haven't had the opportunity to catch a game. I'm having them taped by a friend of mine who gets every TV channel in the freakin' world (I think he even gets Zimbabwe free air).
The problem is he is not awake when you and I are. So he has to program his VCR. Unfortunately, the "successfully-program-the-VCR-gene" is not part of his biological make up.
Go Tiges!
I watched a replay of the game again last night on Fox Footy.
Adam Houlihan really was an excellent performer. Aside from making himself available to kick 4 goals - how about that, a small forward kicking 4 for us! - he also did a lot of good link work around the ground. I was really pleased with what I saw.
David Rodan really does look the goods. Unlike all the other skinny 18 year olds we have drafted in the past who need 3 years to accumulate enough muscle to play seniors, David Rodan is ready NOW!
At least twice he was tackled strongly and was able to either break the tackle or stand in it and get an effective handball away. Do that to Fiora or Pettifer when they first started and they would have snapped in two!
The worry with having a small player is their lack of leg speed. Take Peter Bell or Libba for example. Those little legs pump furiously but don't seem to be able to propel the body forward with any great speed.
Rodan is the opposite. If anything, he looks like he lopes when he runs (well as much as a 168cm person can lope!) and covers the ground with ease.
He really did look good when on the move with ball in hand. Some of his kicks weren't too flash but this could be as a result of first game nerves and his mind trying to go too fast for his body. Once he settles at the level, this should improve.
