Being from Sydney, not too sure on the history of some of the other Melbourne clubs... now that Sydney has ended their 72 year drought, is ours now the longest at 44yrs?

Bulldogs have the longest I think - last and only premiership in 1954 - Geelong I think are second longest in 1963 then Melbourne in 1964

I only started getting into AFL in '89 (the GF between Cats and Hawks was the first game I ever saw!), and was hooked. It's been too bloody long waiting for a premiership... hopefully the cats can get up there soon!
Bring on 2007!! :thumbsu:
nope. doggies only win was in 54.
---way too slow with my reply, sorry. i think the saints were 66 and the dees 64.

'89 is the earliest VFL I can remember...For memory Robert Scott missed a couple that he should have nailed, correct me if I'm wrong!
I think we have the right people in place and are really going to give it a good shake for the next few years to come, sigh...its bloody hard work been a Geelong supporter!

There are a lot of us that were around in 63 when Geelong won their last flag.
You can recognize us as we are the most bitter and twisted supporters as we have had 44 years of pain and misery.
A lot of us have got to the stage where we are not sure if we will see another flag before we join the cheer squad in the sky.
We are also eternal optimists as we believe that next year will be the one so come on 2007 as you just never know.

I take my hat off to you sir! The amount of heart pulpitations and queasy-ness this side has given me in my time I imagine is no where near that of yourself! I also am an optimitic.....optimistic that I will still have the strength to support this team that has given me so much joy and heartburn these last few years!
I hope to become a bitter and twisted supporter many years after witnessing our GF win in 2007!
15 years is long enough for me...let alone 44.
I'm taking out a loan purely for partying purposes when we finally win one.
Hey guys I have been a loyal fan since 1961 so its along long 46 years. We've had a lot of ups and downs during that period but like you all, I am still there every match cheering them on.
This year we managed to get to every match and what enjoyment winning in Perth and Brisbane.
I believe the drought will be broken very very soon, this is Marks last chance to really prove himself so who knows. I always live in hope.

I wasn't born in 63 - 1972 to be precise - but I believe I'm the most bitter and twisted Geelong fan there is. Most certainly, I am NOT an eternal optimist. There might be a Geelong premiership in my lifetime but I don't believe it will be under Mark Thompson. I'm already preparing myself for the feeble excuses we'll receive next season after each loss.

Haha I'm with you, Partridge.

'76 is my year and there is honestly somethin' inside me that can't picture the cats EVER winnin' one. Like we just don't have 'it'.
Maybe that's the bitter and twisted talkin' tho'.
