View Full Version : Most Moving Movie Moment

I am just wondering what moment in a movie is everyone's favourite.

At the moment, mine is in The Shawshank Redemption when Andy Dufresne plays the Duettinao Sull'Aria from The Marriage of Figaro, and all the prisoners just stop and stare at the PA Speakers, as if that 3 minutes and 30 seconds is just suspended in time. Gives me gooseflesh just thinking about it. Of course I am listening to it as I type this.

The most moving moment in a film ever would have to be in Home Alone where old man marely comes to save Kevin from the two crooks with his shovel despite the myth the old man was the "South Bend Shovel Slayer."

That moment was so beautiful.

That is the youth of today for you.

I quite like a couple of other scenes in Shawshank, namely when Andy gets the workers beers and they drink it on the rooftop, and also Morgan Freeman's "I hope" segment at the end.

As for other movies... too many to list and too hard to remember off the top of my head.

Shawshank is the most overrated movie ever, it's just a steaming pile of crap and it has me flabbergasted how so many people rate it as a classic.

It's just crap. Utterly crapola, a pile of fecal matter. It's as if someone defecated onto tape and called it the shawshank redemption. Because it's just sh*t.

I tihnk you can see the point I'm trying to make here.

That's the problem with you boomers, you're all greedy idiots who've had everything handed to you your whole lives, as a result, your brains haven't evolved enough to actually tell the difference between human fecal matter and a film.

Harp of Burma: both the scene where the captain talks to the hidden main character in the storage shed about going home, and then when the main character dressed as a monk talks to his comrades at the prison wire explaining that he won't be returning to Japan and what he has to do in Burma.

Quite odd being in a cinema when everyone is crying.

End of Dersu Urzala is pretty moving too.

No for me it was earlier in the movie. i'm just going at the top of my head right now, but one moment that always gets to me is the last scene of Godfather II, where it's a flashback to 1941 and Michael has revealed he's enlisting in the army. The fact that this noble and idealistic young man ends up a cynical, cruel thug, who kills his own brother always saddens me.

Thing is, I know rJ is actually serious here. He's made mention of the Transformers movie before. And to tell the truth, when I saw it back in the 80's old, I was pretty moved by this scene as well.

As for the scene that moves me the most? When Sean Connery gets shot in The Untouchables is pretty good. I'll have to come back to this one.

As for other memorable moments. There was plenty of great lines and stirring speaches from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy from "For Frodo" before the final charge to the already mentioned "My friends, you bow to no-one".

Ive got a couple.

One of them isn't in a movie, but its moving all the same. In The Sopranos when Silvio picks up Adriana and tells her Chris is in trouble (or something like that, can't really remember right) and that she has to go with him. Halfway through the trip she figures out what is really going on and starts crying.

In the Godfellas when Joe Pesci is about to be 'made' and RDN is waiting for the news, when he gets the call and figures out what happens, thats pretty moving as well.

In Song For A Raggy Boy when the Priest goes ape **** on the brothers who met to greet each other for Christmas. Near heartbreaking.

And i guess when Arrested Development got cancelled :( :(

The money shot in any porno is always pretty moving.

Think about it. Just a that nubile young blonde wears a dollop of pearly white man fat right between the eyes, I don't know about you, but it gets me thinking... about how she probably had a rough childhood, turned to drugs for solace, and how after not getting into college, she started getting her mammaries out at some dirty club for cash, before moving into adult movies for the better working conditions, and how the director probably told her if she took one up the tradesman's enterance she'd get an extra $200, and now, as she sits there wiping her face, with a red raw sphincter, I can't help but think about her poor childhood. For God's sake, won't you think of the children next time you do the five knuckle shuffle to "A Load in Every Orifice IV".

Nah it was in the sequel, "Bambi Goes Crazy Ape Bonkers with His Drill and Set" where Bambi was killed. After the success of the first Bambi film, Bambi was all washed up by Hollywood and couldnt get a gig anywhere.

Then some big-shot producer by the name of Stagliano offered Bambi a deal that could see a return to the heady days of the first Bambi film, he offered Bambi a part in a Disney-Nasty, yes a porn film.

The scene where Bambi dies in that is truly hymenbreaking :(
