View Full Version : Offensive Songs! (Don't read if offended!?)
Ok, here we go. I'll start off with David Allen Coe. I think I once read he was the only guy to get the word "Nig ger" into a top ten song. Some of his songs are just hilliarious. Finger ****ing Sally is just one I can mention here.
Name artists you guys know of that record (songs!) that are never clean. Kevin "Bloody" Wilson and Rodney Rude don't count as they are stand up comics!
I look forward to yer lists.
Eminem. ummm and all those types probably.

Not a huge rap fan but the following would certainly apply:
NWA (as previously discussed on another thread awhile back)
2 Live Crew ('Nasty as they wanna be!')
Of the heavier variety, Cannibal Corpse prolly take the cake with some of their songtitles....
I wouldn't want to offend the delicate sensibilities of the children on this forum ( ), but look up the titles on their album 'Tomb of the Mutilated' for starters. They also had the classic 'Meathook Sodomy' :D
'Autopsy' & 'Pungent Stench' - wrote some REALLY nasty stuff
Carcass - early days had some funny stuff like 'Crepitating Bowel Erosion' & 'Exhume to Consume' :D
Definitely not a fan, but The Mentors and GG Allin wrote some pretty offensive stuff in their time too.

On Metallicas album of covers Garage there are a couple of filthy ones.
So What is very ver dirty, yet very funny and Last Caress is also feral, Its starts with:
I got something to say
I killed your baby today
I won't go to the next line because I am a very sensitive person who doesn't wish to cause offence to any other person

Pah-all amateurs! The king of offensive rock was GG Allin. A psychopathic punk rocker whose live shows included such 'highlights' as eating his own poo, throwing poo at the audience, fighting anyone in the audience. He threatened to kill himself on stage and to take out as many audience members as possible. He died of a drug overdose and never had his great finale. He was a wanted felon in nearly half the states of the US.
A documentary was made about his life called Hated-which is definitely not for the faint hearted. Probably his cleanest song-Gimme Head, his most offensive -the rest of this back catalogue. Funnily enough I reckon his songs, especially early in his career, were great rock songs in the same vein as the Ramones or Motorhead.

He isn't related to the NRL's Julian Oniel by any chance?
Thanks Rusty. Downloading "give me head" and "I wanna **** myself" atm. Also found one titled "Outlaw Scum****" what a charming young man.

I can't really name any bands of the top of my head, but alot of bands in the death metal scene are sing (scream, groan etc.) some pretty sick stuff. Cannibal Corpse was one. But any in that genre can really go into some sick stuff.
In the rap department, you could really name thousands of them that are pretty dirty. NWA etc are just the well known ones.

As I said M29, he was (is) not for the faint hearted.
Although, not in the same bracket as being "offensive" as some of the artists mentioned here, some of the leading rock bands of the 90's certainly had their fair share of "disturbed" lyrics.
Take for instance, Pearl Jam's first two albums, on which, many songs focus on parental sexual, physical and emotional abuse (likewise, Vitalogy at times, covers some deep water). Peel back the frontage of mosh-hyped, masculine grunge-rock, and the messages in the lyrics are really quite distubing (although, not necessarily "offensive").
I think bands like Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins, on their latter records, reached a point where they became more conscious of what they were writing, and perhaps tended to become more 'sensitive' to lyrics of that nature - whereas, initially, references to disturbing topics were less subtle, and more pointed than on later releases.
You can also find similar examples of this type of thing right across the Nirvana back catalogue. I wouldn't classify it as "offensive", but certainly, a lot of it could be classified as disturbing.
Still, a quick listen to bands like the Velvet Underground, Joy Division, The Cure, etc., and you find that disturbing topic nature is nothing new to modern music.

Bobby Brown by Frank Zappa.
Not entirely relevant, but for whatever reason when ever I am hear about offensive/explicit songs, my mind always goes to a song called Startin' Up A Posse by ANTHRAX, which effectively is an ode to all the whinging parents/authorities that try to quash the freedom of speech!
F*cken great song too!!!

Rusty did some reading up on GG Allin. What you mentioned was tame! His onstage antics also included Masturbating himself, self mutilation, breaking bottles over his head, urinating in glasses and drinking it, and spewing over himself. According to one story I read he lost 6 teeth once when he swung the mic into his face! The last concert he did cuased a riot, he then died of a heroin overdose hours later.

Yep, an all round funny guy.
He apparently used to attack his own audience at gigs, and was charged with aggravated rape in a few occasions, which he put down to his craving for the 'weird stuff'.
Not to mention being an absolute drug spastic....
'Not a well man' as they say.
Creepy.
