As in you didnt want him?
Or...
As in it was unfair the way the Essendon 2005 Crichton medal winner was being dangled around like meat.

Definitely good. I think you'll find the majority of Essendon supporters didn't want him to leave.

Both.
I rate him as a player but I suspect Essendon were always going to ask too much.
IMO it was to be Essendon or the PSD (and he probably doesn't deserve that).

Great news! Deserves to be a one club player.
Good news.
Would've been happy to trade him for a first rounder, but no-one was willing to give us that.
Happy to still have him at the club.
This week has pretty gone the way for Jason Johnson as I assumed it would. We would shop him around. If not one could provide us with a deal we wanted we would offer him the 2 year deal he wanted.

Agree entirely.
The whole thing was pretty stupid all in all.
All we've done ie entirely lost his support and passion surely? I mean, we dangled him out on the open market. Doesnt show much support or faith in someone who has been a loyal serveant for the club and wears an Essendon 2000 Premiership medal.

Bull****, the players realise AFL is a business and there are very few players that are truly untouchable.
He will be stoked that no other teams made us a deal we couldn't refuse and that he gets to stay at the club he loves.
If he has lost his support and passion for the club over this he would not have re-signed. He would've told us to go **** ourselves and forced us to trade him to whoever we could get the best deal from or he lose him for nothing in the PSD!!

Good news, I just hope that all of this rubbish hasn't put him off the club too much...

Being honest, I suspect it may have... will have to wait and see.

Hope its performance based. From his form this year he didn't seem overly committed to playing in a low team. Players like JJ need to lead from the front, especially when the team is going so badly and has a lot of new blood. Jury still out in my mind on whether 2 years is good or bad, but I'm very gald to have kept him

How could you possibly draw that conclusion?
He's up there with Hird and Lloyd in terms of committment.

How could you possibly come to the conclusion that JJ isn't committed to his game?
What evidence is there to suggest he isn't?

If you'd seen him play this year, as I have, you wouldn't need to ask.
Maybe he can return to his old form, but this year he was very disappointing, and was not the team leader a dual B&F should be.

It was his first bad year of his career. He had no pre-season and was playing catch up. He actually asked to be dropped so he could return to form because he knew he was letting his club down.
Poor form doesn't always equal a lack of committment. There is absolutely no evidence that he wasn't working hard enough.
Maybe he can return to his old form
By the end of the year he had.

Good stuff. JJ's an excellent player who is rarely rated as highly as he should be.

He improved tenfold in the latter half of the season, so theres a balanced argument here. It's good that he's staying, fingers crossed he keeps the good form from late 06 going.

I rekon JJ should snub Essendon and reject the contract. Hope he doesnt sign.

Um there aren't usually reports about players who have been offered contracts but are yet to sign them.
Particularly stories stating that they have re-signed with the club!!!
