Surely someone will pick some Troma movies........:DAny studio that makes films with The Hedgehog in them is ok with me.
Plot Summary for
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)
When the American Chicken Bunker, a military-themed fried-chicken chain, builds a restaurant on the site of an ancient Indian burial ground, local protesters aren't the only ones crying fowl! The previous tenants, fueled by a supernatural force, take "possession" of the food and those who eat it, and the survivors discover that they must band together before they themselves become the other white meat!

Any studio that makes films with The Hedgehog in them is ok with me.
I was thinking more along the lines of Toxic Avenger, Surf Nazis Must Die, Class Of Nukem High, Street Trash and plenty of others from that era/genre that kept us entertained during the 80's ..........:D
I'll post my full list tonight as I'm sure there are a few classics (like Woody Allen movies) in my video/dvd collections that I haven't seen for a while.
So many. Will have to do by category. However my favourite two, clearly above the rest are 'The Great Escape' and 'The Magnificent Seven'. Great movies with great casts and title music to boot. A bit strange too, as otherwise I don't usually like very many war or western movies.
Favourite category - Sci-fi by a mile, as until LotR was hard to find a decent fantasy movie, even though my reading is fantasy more then anything else. Similarly I find 'hack and slash' horrors boring, and whilst I've read quite a few Stephen King horrors, I've found horror books don't translate well to screen as too much of the 'non-slash' is cut removing the suspense.
Would be missing a few - but here goes:
War - The Great Escape
Western- The Magnificent Seven
Action - Raiders of the Lost Ark, most Bond movies without Dalton, Die Hard, Die Hard 3, Romancing the Stone, The Usual Suspects
Fantasy - Lord of the Rings
Sci-Fi - Aliens, Alien, Star Wars (original trilogy), Blade Runner, Total Recall, The Matrix, Terminator, Terminator 2 - could list another 10 or 20.
Cheesy sci-fi - Logan's Run
Musical - The Sound of Music, Singing in the Rain
'Classics' - Breakfast at Tiffany's, To Catch a Thief, North by Northwest, Rear Window (original)
Horror -Comedy - Shaun of the Dead
Comedy - Life of Brian, The Pink Panther (original, not the crap remake), Groundhog Day

Mean Streets
On the Waterfront

And just about anything from Ken Loach, Mike Leigh and Martin Scorsese...

Bad Boy Bubby :D:thumbsu:
:thumbsu: A great quirky movie partly shot around the Port. Showed a mate from Canada it and he said "I don't think I fully understand it but geez I was entertained." Great first up film by Rolf De Heer.
Usually when a fantastic book is converted to a film it's nowhere as good. However, To Kill a Mockingbird was as great and powerful as the novel. Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch was brilliant.

Anyone seen The Godfather Saga?
Basically, Parts I and II re-cut in chronological order for US television.
Part III is an absolute stinker!
The plot, script, directing, cinematography etc were all top notch.
It was killed by a single terrible flaw, … Sofia Coppola can't act, and I dont mean like, Tom Cruise can't act, I mean like Pamela Anderson can't act. Worst. Performance. Ever.
Luckily she can direct like her father. The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation are very good.
Anyone seen The Godfather Saga?
Basically, Parts I and II re-cut in chronological order for US television.Hmph! I heard about it and from memory it was shown on Australian TV a long time ago.
You don’t re-cut masterpieces. That’s like clipping out Mona Lisa’s smile and putting it in a comic strip.

The Man Who Would Be King (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073341/). Only downfall is it makes me feel like a 'girly man' :(
The Godfather (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068646/) and The Godfather: Part II (/http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071562/). Simply the best crime genre movies ever.
Starship Troopers (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120201/): most really love it or really hate it. I really loved it.
Star Wars (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/) and Star Wars 2 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080684/) (or as they are now known 4 and 5). One advantage of being my advanced age is that I saw these when they first came out and it was MIND BLOWING.
Rocky (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075148/)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073629/)
Casablanca (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/)
The Maltese Falcon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033870/)
This Is Spinal Tap (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088258/)
When my kids were a few years younger
The Incredibles (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0317705/)
The Iron Giant (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129167/)
Toy Story (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114709/)
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (http://http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0339291/). We were given this on DVD which was lucky as the brilliance and strange humour requires several viewings to absorb. Plus the outakes etc are as good as another film.
Honourable mentions
Pirates of the Caribbean 1 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325980/) and 2 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383574/). I don't know if in 10 years time I'll think them classics or just very good entertainment in their day. I guess it depends on whether it finishes well when the third one comes out.

A couple of my favs that haven't been mentioned yet:
The Thing (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/) - another Kurt Russell/John Carpenter classic...
Mad Max II (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082694/) - An all-time australian classic. Often imitaded, never equaled.
Escape from New York (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082340/) Snake Plissken - I heard of you...
The Hitcher (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091209/) - Rutger Hauer's best work - besides BladeRunner that is...
Equilibrium (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/) - Little known Sci-fi
The Fifth Element (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119116/) - Milla Jovovich...
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084726/) - the best trek movie...
X-Men (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120903/)
And I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Basic Instinct yet...
There are a few others, but hopefully this list will revive some fond memories...
Equilibrium (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/) - Little known Sci-fi Very good film considering the budget and lack of stars. Excellently written.

You have to put Sellers' role into context. He was the first western comedian to crack the Indian accent and mannerisms. No one could get it right before The Party. As a result, over the last 40+ years nearly every comedian (especially from a Commonwealth country) has taken the p.iss out of Indian sterotypes.
Caddyshack is a classic. I was probably taken by Bill Murray as much as Dangerfield and Knight. What was the comedy that Dangerfield went to college with his son? Back to School? He was bloody funny in that. Stripes, with Bill Murray was another good comedy from the early 80's.
