I read in todays internet sites that Port will be taking a close look at Harry Miller the discarded Hawk.
I hope it is just that.A look only.
There is far too much emphasis placed on having to pick Aboriginal players with silky skills.Even when they are not up to scratch.Elijah Ware and Ricky O'Loughlin spring to mind.
Just because they are friends with the Burgoynes doesn't and shouldn't mean Jack ****.
Adam Heuskes was friends with Peter Burgoyne too. :thumbsd:

Apparently he's going to train with Port.
We could probably do with a genuine crumbing forward. Would he fit the bill?

Nup he's a dud. If he was a sturt player port wouldnt even consider him.
DUD
useless at AFL level, waste of a spot... i been saying that for years now, evnen when he was apparently 'promising'
Don't waste your time port. Just because he's an old port boy, doesn't mean we automatically pick him.
Consider him..but that should be it in his case

Isnt that why we picked up Motlop? we dont need another one...especially one who less far less promising.
Motlop is a marking small..not a crumbing forward
Mahoney is also a marking small
Ebert is also a marking small
We don't have a genuine crumber, and have never had one, save when Dew was in the forward 50. Even he was being made into a marking small.

Danny Morton and Matthew Bode would have been classed as crumbing forwards but they were no sooner here then gone.

Motlop can mark but he can't kick a goal.
Another dud.If Miller was any good the hawks would have kept him.
Alastair Carkson would know a bit more about him after living in Adelaide for some time.

I wouldn't write Miller off so quickly. I'm not keen - maybe a rookie spot at best- but he did play some pretty good games for the maggies and apparantly didn't settle in moving to Hawthorn. Back 'home' you might actually see him flourish.
I don't think he can be rookie listed?
I've seen him play for the hawks a few times, and every single time i've been sitting here thinking 'i can't believe he's on an afl list'
I think people are letting sentiments get in the way of proper judgement. Yes, he's from port adelaide.
I think the fact that he fits a stereotype (aboriginal, small, fastish(not that fast either from wat ive seen), goal sneak) that people think he'll become something.
Not being racist, but if he was red haired and freckled, i don't think people would consider him.
He's a dud of the highest order. Probably be decent for the magpies.

Not being racist, but if he was red haired and freckled, i don't think people would consider him.Probably not. Same theory would apply if he was from South Adelaide instead of Port.

Speaking of red hair and freckles, whatever became of Luke Peel?

Beat me to it. We do not have a genuine crumber, Wanganeen was the best one we had when he played up front.

What about that 17 year old lad who we can recruit next year from NSW.... he's a genuine crumber isn't he?

I am afraid playing good games for the Maggies in the "B"grade doesn't cut the mustard at AFL standard

Miller is a risk - no question. But risks can pay big dividends. We have plenty of space on our list so rolling the dice with him probably isn't such a bad idea.

Port Adelaide could throw an AFL lifeline (http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/articles/2006/10/17/1160850908730.html) to Hawthorn discard Harry Miller.
Power coach Mark Williams said Port had already spoken to Miller......"We will certainly consider Harry," Williams said......
