Love the way this guy goes about his cricket. Good honest spinner who never gives up, very handy down the order with the bat, extremely well respected.

Would definietly be picked in my World XI. Love the way he plays.

One of the most overrated cricketers in the world. Typical New Zealand

His bowling average shows that.

Would be a good domestic cricketer in Australia.

Fantastic spinner, handy batsman, good fielder

Great allround cricketer and will captain New Zealand after Fleming

Brett Lee and Harbajhan Singh have so-so averages. Doesn't mean they aren't bloody good bowlers.
How is he overrated? When Bond doesn't play the guy has no support FFS.
He isn't a matchwinning spinner, but still a very good one and an excellent lower order bat.

Vettori's numbers aren't great overall, but he has been nothing short of superb against Australia throughout his entire career, and I imagine that our cricketers hold him in the highest regard

incidentally, I think he's top-shelf :thumbsu:

Vettori has done as well as he could with his bowling on the greentops of New Zealand

Extremely skillful spinner, but he's of the old fashion type, he would've excelled in the 70s-80s instead of having to bowl on the unsuitable roads nowadays.

Handy stock bowler, handy fieldsman, struggles to bowl out sides. Looks like a computer geek.

Agree. He suffers because the rest of the NZ attack is so poor. The opposition know they can pretty much see Vettori off and score runs at will from the other end. Warne has had McGrath up the other end, Vettori has had Doull and a collection of ordinary medium pacers.

In one-dayers teams are prepared to get 0/35 off Vettori's 10 overs because they know they can still make 300.

Finger spinners need either turning tracks or batters looking to attack them in order to take wickets. Vettori has neither and his average suffers as a result.

Once again Dan Vettori standing up in the lower order. 17 NO, 2nd top score. Champion cricketer!

i wud say hes their best bowler, after bond when hes in form, and up their with their best batsmen atm... Against the lankans, he was the only batsman to look comfortable and get runs easily on the board...

Good honest cricketer but lacks the 'x' factor to go to the next level. He is solid in all departments but he does not have the ability to join the elite category as someone like a Harbajhan does.

rate him highly, if he bowled as well against everybody else as he does against Australia he would be a top shelf

He's more just an accurate bowler, doesn't turn it much. That's why he struggles in tests ; he can't penetrate. Almost a batting all-rounder. NZ pitches aren't that conducive to spin though. Struggles to perform against SA who can't play spin : that says it all.
