I just realised that it is less than 4 weeks until the first ball is bowled in anger at the Ashes. Who is going? Anyone getting dressed up? Any new ways of carrying beer in plastic cups? Beer wenches?

I don't know about beer wenches, but the best method I've seen is sections of a plastic pipe (just small enough to hold cups without them falling through) linked by a series of lines. Allows him to carry 4 in each hand without spilling any!
Can't go, but I'll be watching every ball on TV...

Another innovative beer carrying method is the old cricket bat with holes drilled out for the cups.
I think beer wenches are officially banned but guys get around it by getting them to dress fairly normally at the beginning of the day. Can backfire on you though - a couple of years at a Gabba ODI a group of guys (coppers!) had a beer wench go AWOL. Apparently she was a cricket lover and perched up in the grandstand to watch the match!

Wasnt a pleasant time to be an Aussie in England.
Looking forward to us reclaiming whats ours.

I will be there. Days 1 and 2.
Sitting behind the square leg umpire on the eastern side (afternoon sun will be a killer). We will probably be surrounded by 2000 loud-mouthed poms. Hopefully Australia bat for most of the first 2 days (Hayden to make a double century), before sending them in for a few overs at the end of day 2 and getting a chance to see Johnson roll his arm over. Hopefully, Monty will be fielding at square leg in front of us as well. :D
There are a group of us going and we were thinking about dressing up in bushranger outfits made from beer cartons.
And i agree with BrownDog. It's about time we took back what was ours - England have had them long enough.

I've got your ticket at home toddy. I was thinking about selling it to the highest bidder from the UK. I could retire. :p
But then i thought, the more poms that miss out on tickets, the better.

Don't have answers for those questions, but let me tell you with one day to go there are now people all over the place down there at the Gabba! I've had to go to the Lions offices twice today for my works renewals and I was gobsmacked by the number of people milling around. They even had food vans setup in the park next to gate 2 to cater for it.

Rumour has it that the Gabba is serving beer only (no spirits). Has anyone heard anything?
Not that it worries me - happily drink beer and contribute to the traditional beer cup snake!

Mexican wave, I'm not too upset about. Seeing morons pissing into cups and then throwing it into the air tended to turn me off. Beer snakes, beach balls and beer wenches though - don't hurt no-one!
