Two of South Australia’s greatest sporting sons, Mark Ricciuto and Darren Lehmann, will go head to head in a Twenty20 cricket match at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, December 10.
The twilight match will see Adelaide captain Ricciuto lead a “Roo’s XI” into battle against a “Boof’s XI”, with part proceeds going to the Crows Foundation.
Roo’s XI will consist of current and former Adelaide Crows players handy with the bat and ball including Simon Goodwin, Nathan Bassett, Bernie Vince, Ken McGregor, Matt Bode, Darren Jarman and Tony Modra.
In his Testimonial year, Redbacks skipper Lehmann will lead a team made up of current SA players Jason Gillespie, Greg Blewett, Shaun Tait, Graham Manou and Matthew Elliott as well as some former Australian Test stars including Damien Fleming.
Admission will be $5 for adults with children under 15 years free and a gold coin donation for the match program.
The Crows Foundation was formed in May 2005 and has already raised more than $150,000 for children’s charities. The Crows Foundation is appealing to the business community to get behind this unique event. There is a number of exciting sponsorship opportunities available including principal partner.
Three hours of action packed cricket between two star-studded line-ups on the picturesque Adelaide Oval in front of an expected crowd of more than 10,000 - and all for a wonderful cause - helping children in need.

I have an old cricket scorebook from SAPSASA which has Mark Ricciuto listed as making 94 for the Riverland. Plenty of 4's and 6's in his innings!

With the countdown for the December 10 clash between ‘Roo’s XI’ and ‘Boof’s XI’ well and truly on, the anticipation is beginning to build.
Channel Nine, who are an exclusive broadcast partner of the Twenty20 match, gathered a number of players from both teams onto Adelaide Oval to film an advertisement.
Roo’s XI players Simon Goodwin, Nathan Bassett, Brent Reilly exchanged pleasantries with Boof’s XI stars Graeme Manou, Greg Blewett, Darren Lehmann, Jason Gillespie and Shaun Tait on the hallowed turf of Adelaide Oval.
Some of the players seemed to be battling to grasp the fundamental rules of the game. While in front of the camera star Crow Simon Goodwin, who was confused by the change of codes, elected to handball the cricket ball and Redback legend Darren Lehmann incorporated some goal umpiring actions into the event.
In what could be an enormous inclusion for the cricketers, rumours are circulating that the greatest leg-spinner of all time, Shane Warne, may have accepted an invitation from Darren Lehmann to join Boof’s XI. Although yet to be confirmed by officials, the St. Kilda supporting Warne is said to be excited at the opportunity to bowl at Crows captain Mark Ricciuto.
A sports super clinic is scheduled for before the match, with children able to partake in basketball, netball and soccer as well as football and cricket.
The Crows Foundation is the benefiting charity from the event, with admission for adults being $5, children under-15 free and a gold coin donation for the match program.
That would be awesome, having Shane Warne play would sensational :thumbsu:
There are still sponsorship opportunities available. For information, please view the sponsorship link or contact Craig Burton on (08) 8440 6666, or Nick Serafini from athletes1 on (03) 9863 9946.

Would that mean that Shane Warne would be playing in a redbacks shirt? My god I would LOVE to see that. :thumbsu:
I doubt he will be released from the Aussie squad to play, but if he is, the crowd will be increased by 5000 I would think.

The 2nd test is in Adelaide from the 1st - 5th of December so he may hang around and play but the 3rd Test starts in Perth on the 14th of December so who knows.

I'm very happy to see Trigger out there. Did he used to play District Cricket for Port Adelaide? Is he still coaching?

Yeah same night as the the United game. I'm so divided, cos I'm going to that game for work, but I'd love to see Boof's testimonial.
Some, well most of those guys in Roos XI are seriously talented cricketers

It's dissapointing that it is scheduled at the same time as United, and will obivously go to that. I think I will just make a donation to them in another way instead. Honestly I think this will decrease the size crowd they would expect, maybe they should have started it at 2pm, finish by 5, so people can still go to both it and the A-League.
Yeh because the A-League is such a fantastic competition. Wouldn't want to miss it.

Doubt it. there is a million people that live in adelaide i'm sure there are 50 thousand that can go to both the cricket and the soccer.

32,000 went on Friday to the test, about 4,000 (at the least I would say) went to the game after. Had the same issue of the slowdown, people have had the choice to go to both, this time they can go to one or the other, it will drop the attendance of both.

Crows got 215 from their 20 overs and the Redbacks won on 5/218 with 3 balls to spare.
Sounded entertaining but not being able to move without falling over stopped me from witnessing it. :thumbsd:
Only scores I know was that Modra top scored for the Crows on 45 and I think Ferguson got a 50. :thumbsu:
Yay Redbacks won something!

So it appears Vince can't even have an impact playing cricket anymore... :o ;)
Bernie didn't play :( But he was there with Nathan van Berlo, Ivan Maric and John Meesen. I thought it was great fun, bit of a small crowd but my friends and I had an awesome time :thumbsu:

Neil Craig told Vince and Goodwin they couldn't play for some particular reason. Pity because they of ourv best cricketers!
Mods did make 45. I think there was more than 3 balls spare as on the scoreboard it only had 15 overs bowled between the redbacks players.
lehmann made 50 and Bassett played really well and made 33. Jars got out first ball but it was a no ball and ended up making 25 or something.
Douglas and Roo were the pick of the bowlers. I think roo got 1/3 off 1 over and dougie got hit around a bit but picked up 2 wickets.

Bode - 14 played well early had a good forward defence and was probably one of the better looking cricketers even though he got out for a low score he still played quite well.
Bassett - 33 looked poor early but once he got his eye in he smashed em all around the park. Played extremely well although didn't seem to have much of a defence. He fell over first ball which was extremely funny.
Tregenza - 14 Played pretty well hit a couple of nice 4s.
Mcgregor - 14 Also played pretty well hit a few 4s with a quickfire 14.
Chris Knights - 21 Played a sheet anchor role for a while moving the strike with singles. Then hit a few fours looking for extra runs and got out.
Roo - 8 Played a team innning hitting 2 fours off 3 balls then getting out on his fourth looking for extra runs.
Andrew Jarman - 16 Out first ball however a no ball call by Cornes kept him in. He scored a few boundaries and looked pretty good!
Modra - 45 off 18 balls was the best striker from the crows. He smashed a six off his first and second ball and the redbacks had no answers until he got out trying to chase for an even bigger score.
Douglas - the sub Anthony (some backyard cricketer dude who won a competition) bowled to him a lot and sent down a lot of wides. For some reason Umpire Davis decided to not call them wides and therefore douglas struggled to hit the ball. He only scored 1 run in the end although it wasn't entirely his fault!
Darren Jarman scored a few boundaries and then got out.
Not sure about the rest.
With the ball Bassett looked like a decent bowler although he still got hit around. Roo bowled well picked up 1/7 off 2 overs removing Blewett. Mcgregor was interesting with his leg spin.
The redbacks run makers were as follows:
Fortunately for the real cricketers, the bowling depth of Roo’s XI did not run deep and Mark Cosgrove (32), Callum Ferguson (50), Greg Blewett (14), Darren Lehmann (50), Cam Borgas (22), Matthew Elliott (27 not out) and Tait (18 not out) feasted on the smorgasboard of half-trackers and full tosses.

Only played A grade cos' Woodville had no batsman. Still don't.
