Feel sorry for Bones but with Nico and JayGray likely to figure prominently in the best 22 next year i don't see a spot for him sadly

Watch for Sampi to dominate.

Hunter will still pinch hit.

Rosa, Butler & Rojo are all interchangeable with each other.

Nicoski will take over from Wirra as #1 rebounder out of D50

Waters may start instead of B.Jones pending match-ups.

Midfield stays much the same. :thumbsu:

watch for nicoski to move to the midfield in 07.
sampi needs to improve his fitness to make my best 22. also, he didnt seem interested this year so needs have the right attitude as well.
id like to see lynch/hansen rotate through CHF/FF during games as i think lynchy plays some good footy up the ground as well as close to goal.

Explained...
Backs: Pretty much the same as this year, Wirra as the mop up man/rebounder, Glass at FB, and Sellers as the small foward negater/tagger in the middler

Half Backs: Waters pretty much doing what he did this year, with some more time spent in the middle, Graham further developing as our CHB, and Hunter players the 3rd defender/swing man role

C: Nicko to move to the wing to provide extra drive with his long kicking, Stinga to continue his taggin role and Embley to move back to with wing for the majority of games with some time spent in the forward line whilst resting

HF: Cuzz to start here and move into the centre when he or the coach wants whilst trying to average a goal a game. Hansen to continue his lead up man approach freeing space for Lynch and the crubmers [hopefully he can get a few more contested marks as well this year. And Staker on the other flank...I have high hopes for him this year. Before getting a knock to his knee in around round 7, he was leading the comp for contested mark.

F: Really hope Samps can turn it around this preseason and cement his spot in the team as a small forward. Lynch, owns this spot now and hoping for 65+ goals in the H/A season alone. And Butler as the resting midfielder in the forward line

Foll: Cox, Judd, Kerr...enough said

Int: Seaby as the back up ruckmen [want him to spend a lot more time in the ruck next year, as it appears he doesn't know what to do when he isn't the main ruckmen...needs to lift. Chick to come of the Bench and to go to either end of the ground as a 'lock up' man. Hopefully next year is Morto's break out year...he has the talent and the best kick in team, just has to put it together. Brauny coming of the bench as he moves on

The 'extended' interchange are the other players I want to play depending on who we play, matchups and injuries + blooding youngsters

A couple of things:

Play Hunter forward and start building a back six without him. We have the cattle and we'll be better off in the long run. Now is the time to be aggressive. If we go into 2007 hoping to tread water, we'll get knocked off our perch.

I agree 100% with your suggestion that Nicoski be moved out of defence. Nicoski will be the next WC gun. Rebound from defence is great, but we have plenty of guys who can offer us that. We need to boost our hurt factor across HF. Nicoski is a weapon. He should be deployed aggressively.

Cousins might start occasionally on a HFF, but he's still part of our best centre square combination. I'd rather see Nicoski or Waters on a HFF than Cousins.

Why persist with Staker? He's been spoon-fed too many chances already. Send him back to the WAFL for the first 8 weeks of the season and make him earn a game. He's been given way too many opportunites due to his athleticism, while Jaymie Graham has busted his balls and been rewarded sparingly in return. Graham can actually hold down a KP, plays smart and isn't prone to brain explosions. Time for Staker to bust his balls.

Brett Jones is in our best 22. Leave Graham at CHB. Play Bones on the 3rd tall and leave Hunter forward alongside Lynch and Hansen. Sometimes players need to be given extra responsibility to develop. Graham and Bones are prime candidates for this kind of leap of faith, and if they pull it off, we will be a much better side with Hunter playing forward more regularly.

Back 6:
[B: Wirra Glass Bones
HB: Waters Graham Selwood]

>Glass and Wirra = Goes without saying.
>Gotta throw Graham in and give him his chances to prove himself furthermore. This will give us the chance to use Hunter of course and have one of my personal favourites take the third tall (Bones).
>Selwood and Waters provide rebound off the half back flanks but are also able to quell those midfielder/small forward type forwards.
>Waters can also interchange with Chick depending on matchups, cos IMO Chick does play his best footy down back.

Midfield:
[C: Nicoski Cousins Braun]
[Foll: Cox Judd Stenglein]

>Cousins does play his best footy in the centre for us atm, altho as he does age, he will be shifted forward. Though in games, we can usually rest him up forward which is good.
>Nicoski to be shifted up onto a wing, because he did before in the back half what Selwood has come to play as neway. The rebounder who quells otha small forward/midfielder types.
>Braun on a wing cos... Why not? (Haha i tend to use the why not a bit, but yeh got nutin to say on it really).
Braun is our hard running wingman who racks up the possies and delivers into the forward half well enough =)

Forward:
[HF: Chick Hansen Embley
F: Hunter Lynch Army]

>Hansen, Lynch is a no brainer, its done witout being said IMO.
>Army/Chick or even Army/Waters to offer that defensive pressure in the forward 50 that we need.
Army is also one of our better options down forward for a small forward role (This can easily change if Le Cras does build up his body over the summer). Sampi will only come in if he gets his act together (IE That year he won the mark of the year... was that the year he also nearly won a few games off his boot? I'm not sure).
>Hunter shifted forward cos... Why not? I do believe yeh hes good being that player we jus surprise the opposition with by shifting forward but at the same time... Why not just have him forward all the time (Shifted back depending on matchups).
>Embley to be given a half forward flank/Wing depending on the various times in the game.

Interchange:
Int: Seaby Butler Kerr Fletcher/Rosa

>Seaby = Our Backup Ruckman who can occasionally shift forward and kick 1 or 2... Wat otha reason do u need?
>Butler = Wuldve found a place for him in the 18... But hes all class and we all know that when fit... he's in the best 22.
>Kerr = Was effective when playin as that impact player who came off the bench. Altho i just say this because if he was in the 18, i would put him in the ruck or on a half forward flank and really couldnt be bothered shifting around to find that place for him in the starting 18 :p
>Fletcher/Rosa = The Grandfinal Hero or the Up&Comer we have a lot of faith in to be a good player for us when our midfield needs to be rebuilt? That is the question? IMO During the year, Fletchs' disposal was very poor compared to his AA year and also Rosa was very good early on this year... so i dunno, i couldnt split it LOL.

Emergencies:
Emg: Staker Hurn Sampi/Morton

>Staker = Could be in our 22... But i prefer having Bones as the player who takes the third tall and shifting Hunter forward... Hes good backup tho. Early on in the year it was like whoa (no sleeves), then later on in the year... who knows... he played as if he was wearing sleeves LOL.
>Hurn = I like his booming kick, domination in the WAFL, big body, just everything about him points to good insurance if sum1 like Chick or anutha backpocket type were to go down. Can also play on the ball.
>Sampi/Morton = The crumber with half-unfulfilled potential and needs to get his act together or the supposedly inconsistent kid who thought the world of himself when the people at his draft time were declaring him a top 10 pick... If Sampi gets his act together and starts playing real good footy, he could edge out Army/LeCras for the undecided forward pocket position.
