Anyone else heard any good songs worth downloading/buying in recent times? I've got this new song in my head at the moment which is pretty damn annoying from the woman who sang 'I'm like a Bird'.
I'm trying to figure it out who it is. :o
Also, for all you guys wondering where you can find music from online for free, i'd recommend downloading Limewire Basic (http://www.limewire.com/english/content/downloadfree.shtml), an international file-sharing software that enables you to download music, videos, programs - you name it!
I've found the occasional Hawthorn match on there as well!

Nelly Futardo i think
music is a huge passion of mine, mainly metal, but ill listen to anything intresting
I dont download music, i got about 200 albums so im fine with that, but my friends all use this one soulseek which is pretty nifty i guess, they rave about how good it is, but not as big as limewire and stuff so if your serching for obscure music you probably wont find

That's the one! Now I just need to find the name of the song i'm thinking of. ;)
Anyone here a 'Heavy-metal' fan? A suprisingly large number of my friends really like listening to it, but I just cant get 'into it'.

How about we use this thread to expose music that is not in the mainstream in "Australia", could be big somewhere else.
A group I found out about a year ago was Roots Manuva, only listened to two albums but they rocked.

Why doesn't everyone tell us about their favourite band so we can get a feel for taste.
Mine's You Am I (http://www.youami.com.au/). Tim Rogers is a god to me. He loves his footy (North supporter) and is critically acclaimed as possibly Australia's best song writer... ever.
Influenced just about anyone who's anyone in Australian music, and has saved my ass in a fight on one occassion.
All round top bloke, frontman of the best live act on the planet.
Also, possibly the only band that has its own footy scarf.

I don't rate him at all. He's okay, but a bit bland for me.
Anyone else going to see U2?

The Kooks are awesome! Hopefully they will hit it big in Australia soon and do a tour. Their album is pretty mad - check out the song "Matchbox".
I also like the Kaiser Chiefs from the UK.
Check out this video on Youtube for anyone who wants to see them, it's an insane live gig:

Buddy I don't mind Pete Murray, but I prefer Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. There's a small Australian band called "Custom Kings" who are sort of a cross between "Cat Empire" and Pete Murray.
I love a lot of old Aussie rock, just because thats what they play at the pub haha. Cold Chisel (Khe San - what an anthem), Australian Crawl, INXS and of course AC/DC. Of the new stuff, I like "the Living End", have seen them live heaps - including a free live show at Fed Square - and they are great!

It's pretty cool how they were selling the "You Am I" football club scarves, for every football club at their gigs.
I met a bloke at the footy who had a Hawthorn one - looked magnificent. :thumbsu:

Anyone else out there snuck the Hawthorn song onto their iPods or MP3's?
I always like to play it in the off-season, on if we're on a particulary bad losing streak. Nothing beats hearing it live, though.

As an avid wolfmother fan it always confuses me as to why anyone who criticises them uses the whole they copied zeppelin or anyone else of their ilk as their argument. Who cares
at the end of the day there is not one band, group or individual musician who has not drawn any inspiration from another artist

Buddylicious - Wolfmother go beyond being inspired by the Zep.
They're a carbon copy of them as much as Airbourne are a carbon copy of AC/DC.

Witnessed a great concert last night, the way it should be done. Pearl Jam at their best.
Great guitar riffs, classic drum solos, soaring vocals a bit of humour and ad libbing.
There is nothing better than the whole stadium singing classic hits while the band plays and the singer joins in to start the line and we finish it. Great stuff.
I lament for the kids of today and what they miss with this type of music. Ive had the unfortunate luck to be at several different rap or similiar type concerts and no way do the kids get into the music like they did last night.
There is only so much F... this, F... that, F.... this, F.... that I can take. Boring, repeative, repeat, repeat, repeat. (Although I must admit Jay Z was somewhat ok)
Great concert, if you get the chance to catch up with PJ, take it.

It actually works in quite the opposite way, you've got more chance of finding obscure acts and music on soulseek than on limewire as limewire is the popular choice and seems to cater for the mainstream music lovers.
I've found a heap of rare stuff on soulseek that i wouldn't even bother searching for on limewire.
Soulseek is good in that you can set a search that will run infinitely(everytime you are online) until you find what you are after.

Actually I'm going on Sunday. I don't really like 'em that much, but it's my best mate's favourite band so I have to. I don't dislike them and I'm sure it will be spectacular.

Impressive concerts by U2. Thankfully Sunday was still full steam ahead with the great music. In fact I think they did an extra song although I think Dave Evans at the end thanking "Sydney" for a great night was a highlight. He tried to recover but the damage had been done.
Also seen enjoying Sunday night was big Fraser Gehrig & Luke Darcy along with old rocker Ronald Dale Barrassi.
