Well, the Melbourne Cup is soon upon us and i'm wondering if anyone has any 'tips' for the potential winner. I think i'll chuck $10 on someone - maybe another David Hayes trained horse could be a chance?

Because I actually don't mind a punt - here's my tips for tomorrow's racing.
May change if we see some rain overnight, but this will give you a rough idea.
Race 1: #1 Royal Asscher
Race 2: #7 Star Mystic (take him in the quinella was #3 Benko)
Race 3: #9 The Bavarian
Race 4: #2 Imana
Race 5: #4 Aadelaidee
Race 6: #6 Flame of Sydney (Quinella with #4 Devil Moon)
Race 7: #2 Delta Moon
Race 8:#2 Polar Bear
Race 9:#7 Shinzig
Race 10#12 Storm Action
Hope that's of some interest to fellow punters.

Think I'll go with my gut instinct which has handed me losses of $100 in 3 years; Efficient for me! :p

i always pick winners on blind bets. Managed to tip the winner of the geelong cup, and the Caulfield Cup just going on numbers.
the cup winner will be either hourse number 11, or the horse startying in barrier 11

:p LOL...my mum believes in all this superstition c**p, and from hearing what this guy said, a guy who can "tell the future", she said anything with a number eight in it...e.g. horse 8...or barrier 18 (she thinks :p) or horse 18 or barrier 8

I am thinking of placing a wager on Pop Rock, prob is it's becoming close to being favourite and the price is shortening, I'm not very good at this punting caper, but here goes.

I backed Pop Rock each way.
What a great sport is Damien Oliver. Held the young Japanese jockey's hand aloft after a great exciting race.
Damien was never going to protest as he admitted in the post-race interview that it was he that drifted in on Delta Moon.
A Japanese Quinella, congratulations to the young connections.
Enjoyed it immensley - started at 12 noon over here.
Sipping some bubbley as I write.

Wahoo broke even for once- was about to go for Efficient till I heard she was scrated. So I went for 'Maybe Better', has a pretty catchy name. :)

I had a flexi bet on the quaddie, Creek Side in race 10 @ about 30, and Delta Blues paid well, made it a nice little pot :)
Absolutley blitzed the last 2 legs, picked 1,2 and 3 in Race 9 and 1 and 2 in Race 10.
You get such good value on the Cup, so many horses have no businesss being short priced.
What was the last Australian Horse to win the cup?
