Once again Australia shows how awesome it is by picking up 6 spots in the Test team of the year and 5 in the ODI team. Also punter got player of the year and test player of the year! IMO Hussey could have got one day, test and player of the year, but I suppose they have to share the awards around a bit!

Interesting that Jayawardene got captain of the year.

I didnt realise that he'd been captain long enough to warrant it? I thought Ponting or Dravid (with Flintoff as an outside chance) would have been the main contenders.

Ian Bell has really improved this year.

He will be one of our best batsmen this summer.

I'm surprised Hussey didn't pick up the best upcoming player.

I'm surprised Hussey didn't pick up the best upcoming player.

Probably because of his age, he had played alot of cricket already, not internationally, but they probably wanted to give that award to a younger player

Losing the Ashes (as captain) probably tossed him out of the race.

I hope Andrew Symonds keeps improving this summer, that run out against the West Indies (direct hit from just straight of square leg) was brilliant, early Ponting/Rhodes sort of stuff. Hopefully he makes a couple more great knocks as well, his batting last year (along with Hussey and Ponting's ridiculous average early in 2006) were the highlights of last year.
