View Full Version : Next In Line for Each Position?

I just want to get everyones thoughts on who is next in line in each position.

Opening Batsmen: Phil Jaques & Mike Hussey

Numbers 3, 4 and 5: Michael Clarke, Brad Hodge & Mark Cosgrove

All-Rounder (No. 6): Andrew Symonds, James Hopes  or Dominic Thornely

Wicket Keeper: Brad Haddin

Spinner: (Not using MacGill) Dan Cullen

Numbers 9, 10 & 11: Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait, Mitchell Johnson

Captain: Mike Hussey

Phil Jaques, Mike Hussey [C], Michael Clarke, Brad Hodge, Mark Cosgrove, Andrew Symonds, Brad Haddin, Stuart Clark, Dan Cullen, Mitchell Johnson & Shaun Tait

I know Watson is young, and not looking at retiring any time soon, but being realistic, everyone besides Watson, Lee and possibly Ponting and Hussey, will retire in the next 3 years.

The All-Rounder spot :thumbsd:

When suggesting who is next in line, don't know where they will bat in the line up, so just use Australia's current line up, with Warne at 8, then the three pace bowlers.

Michael Clarke is very overrated.

No way will he be captain.

Cam White at 5 is laughable too.

If Mcdonald continues on with early season form he'd be 2nd for the all-rounder spot.

Just goes to show that even though Aus may win the ashes this time because of Warne the damage is already done and the domination of cricket by Aus is coming to an end

Andrew Symonds, and it still should be Andrew Symonds

Callum Ferguson will be in the side in 6 years, as Henriques.

Fergy better start scoring some runs or he will be dropped from the Redbacks. Great talent, but damn ordinary this season so far.

But since you know so much about our next in line, lets hear an overview of your detailed opinions and thoughts on;

Jaques, Johnson, Bailey, Tait, Ronchi, Cullen, Hilfenhaus, Henriques, Voges, Heal, Cosgrove, Ferguson, Marsh & Rogers?

Ponting will be 38 in 6 years time and you think he will still be captain and actually playing?

Really these things are hard to judge, 6 years ago I reckon most peoples future team would have been alot different to what it will be and I reckon most would have had atleast half the current side already retired

It's interesting to think, if the World Cup was this year and Australia hadnt lost the Ashes last year whether most would have retired, it seems like they are so embarrassed at losing the Ashes they are holding off retirement because of it

I don't think so, i think they all want to keep running around as long as they can.

I wouldn't expect too many intelligent responses from her, Jerry.

Just for a look back at how much the line up is liekyl to change.

Team in summer 2000 agianst windies made up of:

Waugh x2
Slater
Gilchrist
Ponting
Hayden
Colin Miller
Langer
Macgill
Gillespie
Mcgrath

with Bichael Lee and Martyn all having a bit part in the series.

TorresIsGod
9 Nov 2006, 12:29
Why do people keep spelling Bichel with "ael"?

5 of those eleven will definately play in the first test against England, with MacGill to play some part in the series.

While Martyn, Lee and Bichel who made up the 14, Martyn and Lee will definately play.

Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Martyn, Hussey*, Watson*, Gilchrist, Warne*, Lee, Bracken/Johnson* & McGrath [12th Man: MacGill]

So out of those 14, 8 of those will take part in The Ashes, with Warne being injured during that series against The West Indies, if he wasn't injured, he would have played instead of Colin Miller, so that would make 9.

Not much of a turnover

Good point, but then why;

....do people keep spelling definitely, as definately?

Hilfenhaus?

I doubt Lee will still be in the side when he's 35-36.
And Ponting won't be captain at the age of 37.
Watson to be captain, and Cullen in for Lee.
Blizzard in for Voges.
