View Full Version : Which Pubs/Bars/Clubs do you party at?

Considering HBF has asked the question about fave drinks, I thought I would find out where we all like to party!
I personally prefer pubs myself and some faves are Elephant & Wheelbarrow in St Kilda and the city, The Depot in Richmond, Bridie O'Reilly's on Chapel and in Brunswick, The Anglers in Maribyrnong and the Young & Jacksons isn't too bad either.
My ideal pub has a beer garden and a band! :D

I'm in Queensland, so Dicey O'Reilly's at Mt Gravatt, Dooleys at Meadowbrook is just feral enough to scare up some fun and pre-game, the Pineapple Hotel up the road from the Gabba is good value. Oh and the Boathouse Tavern at Coomera down the Gold Coast can be pretty good too, especially when battle of the bands is on. Have also been to the Calamvale Hotel a lot in my misspent youth, seeing some great bands like the Divinyls.
Aside from that, single Dad so I end up having a quiet bourbon with my best mate who lives up the road.
Much prefer beer gardens and live bands too BG.

I'm probably going to get a bit of stick for this, but im 21 years old - so im usually into the night club scene.

I'm 21 also mate, and I love the dance clubs! Especially when there's pro DJs and trippy smoke 'n laser effects. :D
Luckily Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast is only walking distance from where I live. The only difficulty is organising others to come along.
Places like the Beer Gardens have their charm as well. As for pubs, I find them a bit on the slow side. It's ok when there's sport on, but if it's just drinking and chatting, I'd rather do that at someone's house.

Like C4, I'm into the clubs as well, I'm only 20. Usually hit: q-bar, seven, prince, boutique or the saint between thursday and sunday...
Don't mind a good bar tho, metropol and lionel bars in st kilda go alrite too. even the anglers on a sunday in summer..

Not into clubs much these days...prefer to practice the dance moves in my bedroom mirror (David Brent style)!
Big fan of a beer garden or a little bar where you can chill out and actullay chat to your mates, without going home smelling like a chimney.
Hardly any of these places in Sydney, so I'm gad to be moving back to Melbourne next month, as there are plenty!

bit of a muzztech scene though - Greek nights there are always enjoyable.

When in Melbourne which is often i normally end up at The Trader Bar or Elephant and Wheelbarrow.
Or anywhere i get dragged along to.

When I was younger (12years ago now) I used to go to 'The Cactus Club' in Moonee Ponds and 'The Grand' in Essendon but now that I am over 30 I mainly walk around the Moonee Valley 'Taberet' and have a drink there your in my backyard.

I'm definately a pub girl.... comfy chairs, nice wood fire in winter, and great bands!
hate clubs... unless it's in Europe and on a beach :thumbsu:
As I am also the "other" side of 30, my nightclubing days are very much over.
However, a good bar where you can just kick back and have a few drinks with your mates is now my prefered option.
Lots of good ones around, and tend to head into Richmond alot of the time.

anyone ever been to the yarra glen grand hotel/pub in the yarra valley? i dont really go there, was just wondering if anyone had been there. more of a tourist/weekend sort of town tho

Cant beat the Geebung in Hawthorn on a Sunday.
Especially on a long weekend.
My mates' one of the owners at Boutique, but to be honest its not really my type of scene - a little too pretentious to say the least.
But geez does he pull some amazing hotties time after time.
Most of them have that Euro trash model look.:thumbsd:

Im still a sucker for BIG tt's :)
right now, marylebone tup (great for soccer and rugby), marylebone bar and kitchen (local), then, well, there are so many night clubs and bars in london its just ridiculous, so you never end up going anywhere twice (almost) except your local and mates locals.
WHEN IN OZ, however, I used to go the Labour in Vain, before that Punters club in the 90's, Naughtons Hotel to hang with the carlton players (little tip for next time we win the flag ,........in 08), and yes, anywhere with a beer garden, band is optional but an added bonus, but most essential is beer in GLASS. The standard has a good beer garden, but for a great night out, the bar at Telstra dome when the blues are spanking someone isnt bad !:D

Pub, Club whichever! I have extensive music tastes so anywhere i can go, have a few/alot of drinks and bust a move is all fine and dandy with me. I have friends into all different scenes so where we go depends who i'm going with really.

The "Waltzy" when my friends and i are looking local.
Otherwise we go to the Glenferrie hotel in Hawthorn or the Depot in Ninthmond (which these days is dead but has cheap drinks and good service :thumbsu: ).
I am trying to convince my friends to go to Sekt which is a Goth/industrial night which happens once a month on a Friday, they are all very reluctant for some reason.
