...will ponting lose the captaincy?
...will Warne retire?
...will McGrath and Gilchrist announce that they're finishing after world cup 2007?
this series could be the end of an era in australian cricket.

We'll win, and it'll still be the end of an era.

I doubt it would happen, but if it did:
1. Should to Hussey, but won't.
2. No, reckon he want to play to he is 40.
3. Possibly.
You mean WHEN Australia lose the ashes dont you ?

If i'm not mistaken, Australia already lost The Ashes last year, and now are trying to win them back?

To Hussey? I haven't even considered that before. Has Hussey any experience as captain other than that time he captained Australia to a loss? In England maybe?
After Hussey who else would be potential captains?

i think lee, symmonds or hussey may be in considerations in the 1 day game and cant think of anyone else but hussey for the test because most others are too old or arnt good enough.

They could admit they were wrong and give it to the real captain, Warney :)
Hussey is actually the only option other than Warne if you think about it, the rest are either not captaincy material or likely to retire within 12-18 months

Hussey has captained WA a fair bit, I'm sure all those years when he was not playing for Aus, while Langer and Gilchrist were, I'm sure Hussey was Captain, if he wasn't, it was Ryan Campbell.
Michael Clarke could captain Aus in the future, if he can get back in the test side, but, if Ponting gets sacked or steps down, I'm sure it would go to Gilchrist or Hussey

Gilly? He is one of the ones who is likely gone within 12-18 months

It will be the end of an era if we win, if we lose 1 or 2 may retire but it's more likely to spur others on to get the ashes back.
I can't see Warne retiring or Martyn, although it could be the end of Mcgrath, who would be retiring to spend some family time.

They won't have the guts to sack ponting as captain, although it should be Warney.
Don't know how Huss goes but i reckon he's be better than Punter too.

It would mean half your team would be about 40 next time .That would be a sight to see .
Obviously Aus are in a bit of a corner with the captaincy because all the main players are the same age apart from Ponting who is a spring chicken in comparison.I suppose it could only go to hussey or Clarke by default really .At least Ponting could go back to being just the best batter in the world and not the worst captain as well:D .

i reckon unless they have brilliant series averaging 50+,both Martyn and Langer will 'retire'

If Australia does not win the Ashes back,
Ponting SHOULD be sacked, but probably won't. Imagine losing to the rabble they have sent down- and players are continuing to drop like flies.....:D
Warney has said he wants to play on, and there is absolutely no reason he can't.
Would expect massive retirements- McGrath, Gilly, Langwer, Hayden and Martyn might all hang 'em up after thrashing the Poms....nothing left for them to play for, really.....getting back the little urn is the driving ambition now.

Love to hear your supporting theory as to why Punter should lose the captaincy to Hussey ....is Hussey a proven captain ...or master tactician ???

You obviously don't judge someone's ability as a Captain on the amount of Test Matches they've won.
They need to stagger the retirements of our Legends based on whose ready to come in, and not have them all leave at once.
So, Langer for Jaques, probably right after the Ashes (can't risk Alfie being hit again).
McGrath for Clark soon after - assuming Glenno wants to hang them up and spend more time with his family.
Martyn for Hodge.
Gilly & Warney & Haydos I'd hope would play on for a bit longer.

Cameron white for captain
Cameron white for captain
cameron white has to play first.
It's just a matter of time now until Australia regains the Ashes. No Vaughen and now no Trescothick. This could get very ugly for the poms this summer.
