View Full Version : Country Memberships
I was on the phone to the FFC today to organise some country membership forms for my nephews,( their parents are Eagles, and I have converted them;) ), and the woman tells me that the club is planning to disband all country memberships in the next 3 to 4 years.
I quizzed her if this was true, and she assured me it was the case because, with the expanding membership they would be unable to provide the 5 tickets a year that the country membership provides.
I personally think this stinks, considering a lot of country people simply cannot justify the cost of a full membership when they only get the opportunity to see a handful of games a year.
Your thoughts.

I guess the problem would be that a lot of people pick what they consider the 5 best games at the start of the season. 95% of country members probably have the derby as one of their games. With membership capped at around 40,000 at Subiaco Oval they would prefer to have 40,000 full members than 38,000 and 2,000 country members.
I agree with you though, it is unfair if they plan to force country people to fork out for a full membership. It's a shame that those who have stuck through the hard times will be pushed aside for bandwagonners if need be. I bet if we slide down the ladder and membership drops to 30,000 they will be on the phone trying to lure back country members.

I agree its a tricky situation, especially on a derby game, but surely the club can come up with with a fairer remedy than just stopping country membership completely.
This doesn't effect me as I have always been a full member since day one, but I can tell you there are hell of a lot of people who are seriously P###ed off about this. With one guy talking about taking the club to the anti-discrimination commision(serious.)
This is an issue that will gain momentum as more people find out about the clubs intentions. And I don't think the club needs bad press like this just when we are starting to go so well.
Does any anyone know if the slime are doing the same thing?

I think they can only seat a percentage of the ground like 80% with full members and if like it has been said if everyone picks the same 5 games what happens with the seats for the other 17 rounds.maybe they could choose the games and seats before you buy them with the country memberships.Surely they would want to watch them regardless of who we play.
