They must be getting ready for bin night in Brisbane - Giles selected ahead of Panesar!

Terribly defensive decision by the Poms.

We picked clarke - maybe Ponting and Flintoff agreed not to do anything different this test match

yeah each team has to have a certain amount of talent impaired players for comedy value.

We picked clarke

Yeah, averaging only 100 in his last 5 Pura Cup games, in the top 10 ODI batsman in the world and he's 25.

What a ridiculous decision. No point playing the future players.

Bring back Lehmann :o

You know they made the wrong choice when Pieterson came in and turned it 10 times more than Giles did

Monty Monty Monty, must be sitting in the dressing rooms thinking that old senile muppet sitting in front of him is having it in for him

Giles > Panesar.

Panesar has no form what so ever leading into the test, and the right decision was made.

I actually thought Giles bowled well today and Monty's form wasn't as good, though I still would have picked Monty.
Give Giles some credit though, he did bowl well and probably should have had Punter lbw.

He had more form then Giles, who hasnt played a first class match in a year, then gets rushed straight back in like he is some superstar who has a god given right to play;)

Miggles!!!

I don't think it matters much who England selects, they are going to get creamed.

at least they have mr average of 35 test cricket and 40 FC cricket to bowl at.

although its an absolute belter clarke may get his one score to keep his career ticking over for another 5 tests of failure.

If Giles can bowl well on that, imagine what Monty would've done

The bloke is just about 100 times better bowler than Giles would ever be. He would've been licking his lips at all that turn and bounce against the lefties

Brett Lee and Shaun Tait can turn a ball more than Giles. Not a Test bowler.

Even though Giles bowled better than usual (no darts on leg stump for a change) but he was still throwing up some pretty harmless pies.

He may have a wicket against his name, but put that down to dumb shot selection from Martyn trying to be a bit too cute.

FWIW - KP was the pick of the Poms spinners, and he's not even a part timer.

Not a Test bowler.

Too true. Hardly 1st class quality either.

I honestly couldn't see him getting a regular game for any Pura Cup side. He's about Hauritz class - as far as spinners go IMHO.

Everyone was surprised at how "well" Giles bowled yesterday because he actually bowled like a bowler and tried to get batsmen out instead of hoping they're getting themselves out

But in reality, it was still a pedestrian and innocuous performance that most left armers wouldn't have not done. In fact, the Bangladesh tweakers we saw during our tour there bowled way better than that.

Adelaide fans get your Monty signs ready... he'll play in the next test for sure. Cannot do any worse than Giles and Anderson.

I can guarentee you that Giles will play at Adelaide.

For the life of me I cannot see what can be gained by having Giles in the team.

Maybe he's just a great bloke.

I suspect Cricket Australia has demanded that Giles play over Monty, to prevent Monty being racialled abused by us.
