View Full Version : who is your your favourite rap singer
who is your favourite rap singer
I think you have given too many options in this poll. It's very hard to decide between snoop, dre and Eminem mainly because they are all exceptionally talented. I voted for Dre mainly cos he has probably been around for the longest and he still rocks.
P.S. How can could you leave out Warren G?
xZibit is the best. He absolutely kicks ass.
Nas is also heaps good but not up there :p
Eminem is crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm hello????
A rap poll without Ice Cube????
Even Ice T should rate a mention long before these 'johnny come lately's'!
Id say Snoop Dog...if i have to choose.
Eminem is a great songwriter, but is up with the singers from Something for Kate and Powderfinger for the 'most annoying voice in music' award.
i didnt know Hitman rapped!

ah Chuck D..
yeah, where's public enemy? run DMC? NWA ? salt & pepa?
ah, who would be your fave female rapper ?
Here are some unkown "artists".
http://stuntaz.cjb.net/
I voted for Snoop but i love Dre and Eminem...all three have made great albums, DoggyStyle IMO is the best rap album around, The Chronic and Marshall Mathers LP....both top albums.
But this cant really be a legit poll without Warren G, Nortorious BIG, Tupac, Easy E or Ice Cube.....in fact those 8 i have mentioned above would be my favourite rappers full stop!
Oh and i forgot P and Hav....Mobb Deep kick ass.
I reckon Chuck D is the best rapper, although I ain't a massive fan of Public Enemy.
Love De La Soul. Three Feet High is rap perfection!
Straight Outta Compton exhibits Cube and Dre when it was about the attitude and not the money. Also rap perfection!
Beastie Boys deserve a mention (especially ahead of tools like Warren G...I mean fair dinkum) and despite not being the world's greatest rappers, with albums like Paul's Boutique, who gives a sh*t!!
Ice T & DMC always deserve respect.
And here's one from left field...Zack de la Rocha!!!

I would love to know the reasoning as to how Beastie Boys could even go close to being better than Warren G........ If anyone has heard his first CD "Regulate", they will completely agree with me. Beastie Boys are just try hards, nothing more, nothing less.

Dude, I owned Regulate (since lost it, but won't replace it). Whilst I thought it to be palatable, it wasn't anything special. Being Snoop's mate (are there any West-Coast rappers that aren't???) means that he sounds a hell of a lot like him!
The Beastie Boys are actually pioneers of the genre, so I find it hard to see how they can be try hards!!! Again I direct you to Paul's Boutique. Check Ya Head might also give you an insight into great songwriting!
Either way, none of those Longbeach rappers (Dre's money spinners) are even close to the old-school rappers like Run DMC, Chuck D, Ice T, Ice Cube etc..

As for the Beastie Boys, absolute pioneers of the industry.
Beastie Boys along with NWA, Run DMC and Public Enemy are all hip hop legends.
Dre is the single biggest influence on the music industry.....period

"Alright STOP! Collaborate and listen, Ice is back............."
Where's Vanilla Ice, Josh?
Run DMC "It's like that" is as good as it gets. "Walk this way" and it's Tricky are other good songs from Run DMC.
Where is Li Bow Wow?

Lil Bow Wow couldn't (w)rap my lunch!! What about Criss Cross? Those guys were dope, with their backwards daks and stuff.
'Rappin Ronnie Reagan' from 'The Simpsons' was pretty cool.

i liked some of the earlier warren G stuff..

I love Warren G...his albums Regulate and Take A Look Over Your Shoulder are both regulars in my CD player.

Rapture was crapture.
I'm a fan of Blondie, but that song was complete rubbish. A rapper she ain't ... "mars ... bars ... guitars ..." That's bloody pathetic.
I've only ever heard one rap song that I like. And that was the FIRST rap song I ever heard ... "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash.
At that stage I didn't even think of it as a rap song because I didn't know what "rap" meant.
It was a great song. Very powerful. Very moving. The voice of the ghetto.
But that's ALL it was ... a great song.
Unfortunately it gave birth to a genre.
Since then, black American music has disappeared up its own arse. There was a time when African-Americans set the agenda of popular music ... but when rap came along their culture degenerated into a pathetic parody of itself.
I detest rap music .... with a passion. Consumerist rubbish. It's nothing more than the soundtrack to an advertising campaign for over-priced sportswear made by underpaid sweatshop workers.
As much as I love your song, Grandmaster Flash, you've got a lot to answer for.

I agree. I really should have put a wink next to my Blondie call cause it was a joke, but she was one the first popstars to "rap". It is a very funny song and the film clip rocks! :D
Gotta love The Message. Funny how that was near enough to the first ever rap song ever and it got everything so right!
Fear of a Black Planet and Straight Outta Compton are albums that I consider to be as powerful. Another artist called Paris that noone here would know released an album called The Devil Made Me Do It in 1989, which was extremely powerful and simply an awesome album!
Love how the kids lap up the top 40 stuff thrown at 'em and call it rap! It's pop lads!!!
Del tha funky homosapien.

Tone Loc, thats the guy. He is a one album legend!
Calling him soft is a bit harsh. He was one of the first rappers to make it big in the mainstream industry. Think of him as a trailblazer opening new markets to the rappers that followed.
or maybe its just me....:o
Kurrupt??? Thr guys got nothing but some funky beats!
You seemed to have mised some east coast rappers like:
Prodigy of MOBB DEEP
Havoc of MOBB DEEP
Method Man
Redman ( the two most talented artists around!)
Raekone of Wu
Ghostface of Wu
Common
Copone N Noreaga
M.O.P. these guys are mad!
Jadakiss ...........i could go on and on and on but i think youv really missed the talent in your servey.
If you havn heard any of these guys dowload and enjoy some "RAP" and Hip Hop the way it should be heard........

Rapture CRAP. I don't think so. Sure the lyrics were weird, but the lyrics to "I am the Walrus" are weird too.
Anyway one of the reason I dislike most rap songs is due to the pathetic, "Aren't I great" lyrics that most of these no talent "theives" pander about. They are no better than Mum's attempt, and at least she doesn't have her head up her own butt.
