View Full Version : McGrath failed to train today
according to ten news. Must be in some doubt for a Friday start. Tait would be the obvious replacement

He would have to be wouldn't he? We remember how he went last year without match practice.
I wouldn't play him unless he's 100% fit, and if that means missing out on the Adelaide Test then so be it.

He'll play. It was more of a rest from training because of a heel blister.

I still think he'l play. Just give the heel some rest and get it right for the next test. It's not like its the sort of injury where you have to build the strenght up, rest it to its right and you'll be fine.

Course McGrath would play, im more worried about winning the Ashes than seeing Taity play his debut home Test in Adelaide in the Ashes. However, should McGrath be out, it would be hard to leave Taity out for his home test. And having 5 fast bowlers in the squad indictates there must be some serious doubt over Pidge.

Don't reckon they'l go for Tait as Lee just had a shocker.
I'd rather McGrath play at 80%, win the test then have a rest

He's not gonna be fully fit coming into this Test, which makes it even more outrageous that they left out Macgill. We might have to play 5 bowlers this Test

10% fit McGrath would be better than MacGill for Aussies sake. Not so much for the bowling.... but how often do Australia lose with McGrath AND Warne in the team?

So do we.
If he plays it will have to be through the pain barrier.

Old man syndrome, he didn't even bowl than many overs in Brisbane.
Could Botham be onto something... ?
Without Watson at 6 Tait will not play.
If they bowl Tait and Lee from opposite ends England may get 200 in a session. A barage of bouncers and half volleys.

Isn't this the story of the series ?
Its not quite no mcgrath - no australia but its damn close.
Would give the poms a psycological boost.
Can the dads army types last long enough to go 2-0 up ?

Would be very difficult to bowl with a bruised heel. It's also something that won't go away without rest and is very painful. If he was a batsman or spin bowler I'd say he would be almost certain to play. I'd say he'll play anyway, maybe with some injections to get him through. He can't do any further damage, but a summer of pain awaits him if he keeps playing on it and he'll need a couple of weeks off his feet at some stage to get it right.

I couldn't give a rat's arse about the pain level, if it effects his bowling then he should be dropped to recover.
He is a professional sportsman, pain is part of the deal. Interesting to see if he has the mental strength to get through it and perform.
