After spending his AFL career at Fitzroy, Richmond and Port Adelaide. 25 year old, John Rombotis has signed on to be captain/coach for Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League, Division One side Belgrave for this year.
I wish him the best of luck with the Magpies this year.

I, also, wish 'Murphy' the best of luck with Belgrave!

I believe that "Rombo" was the last Fitzroy player to ever represent the club that actually grew up in the Fitzroy area.
Maybe Fat Pizza or Levo will be able to confirm this.
Cheers,

Considering he played in our last game, I believe this is correct.
I remember him telling supporters at the Fitzroy Club Hotel that he had just left Fitzroy. Then he explained he had just moved from living in Fitzroy (to Vermont, I think).
My favorite memory of John Rombotis is when he pulled up at the lights beside me in Dandenong Road on a match day & asked me the way to the Western Oval. So much for a home ground advantage.

Did he end up taking Richmond thru the courts?
FitzroyRamone you should know better than to need confirmation of these things.
