Could Andy Bichel be the Tom Moody of the upcoming world cup? A player who has been out of the international scene for a few years comes into the side and adds experiance and quality for one last tournament. I think that Bichel would add so much in the world cup and would be the perfect ingredient we need.

Legend! If you go to QLD make sure you go though the home of the great man, Laidley.

I've always been a fan of Bichel, I'd like to see him given one last shot before retirement. On topic I agree.

I think it's very safe to say that, barring catastrophe, the Andy Bichel door is well-and-truly shut. The selectors made it pretty plain-and-clear that when they dumped Bichel, they were clearing him from any future plans.

Bichel's had his moment in the sun, and that was in the 2003 World Cup.

Nice bloke and an honest tryer, but apart from WC2003, never showed any bite whatsoever...

Yes, Bichel will play in the 2007 WC.

I was just putting it out there as a thought. Bichel has been in great form with the bat and ball (unlike Bevo and M.Waugh) and was just likening it to the Moody call in 99. I dont expect it to happen, i would have it at about 1%.

Bichel won us games off his own back with both bat and ball in that World Cup, lengendary performances. Howeever hes had his time in the sun, the youth must play.

I'd prefer him to stay playing for QLD myself - I would like to think it would happen but it won't

What's with these washed up hacks? I've heard Bevan thinks he's a chance to play for Australia at the next World Cup... it's ridiculous - he's living too much in 96'. Wake up Bevo,

We must look forward...

Anyway he has as much chance of I do in playing in the WC. The bowlers are already settled. Lee, McGrath, Bracken and Hogg.

Add Watson and Johnson and that will make up the bowling squad for the WC.

Tom would have been recalled as an allrounder when there wasn't any standouts, so the theory I guess was you may as well go with experience.
At present we have enough players pushing for spots in all departments: bowling, batting, allrounders, wicket keepers, so I can't see the need for any shock selections.

Anyway, Moody didn't have a very good tournament from memory.

Moody had a great tourny, the only time i can see Bichel getting a game is if Watson and Symonds gets injured. I still think Bichel would add another dimension to the team.

Watson, Symonds, Clarke, Lee & Hogg already give us enough all-round options.

Bichel was a great servant for Australian cricket, but the future is elsewhere.

Even if Bichel was 27 years old he would not get close to the World Cup squad. He's just not very good at all, and never really cut it on the International scene anyway.

I hate it when people go on about players (especially bowlers) doing well in State cricket. It means nothing. State cricket is sh**.

Too late? He had a decent run in the mid-90s when he was still young. His World Cup was sensational, especially that 7-fer against England.

He seems to have improved a lot with the bat over the past few seasons and is now an all-rounder. Was called upon for experience when we had several injuries in the 03/04 series against India and it won't happen again...if he was from NSW, then maybe ;)

Guided Steve Waugh to his century and the side to the victory chasing 270ish and being in allsorts early.

With Damien Martyn having announced his retirement, we are in need of a #4 batsman, Mark Waugh is the perfect candidate
