The Departed, I really enjoyed that movie. The bit where Mark Whalberg walked passed Matt Damons office giving him the finger one the way was gold, so many great one-liners from that film.

Does Good Night and Good Luck count as 2006?

United 97
Is that a sequel to United 93?;)
Does Good Night and Good Luck count as 2006?
Well, it was nominated for the Academy Awards earlier this year, so probably not.
The Departed - gruesome and violent film but engrossing nonetheless.

Casino Royale for me :D
Just saw that on the home computer and wasnt really impressed by it. Was expecting a whole lot more then what was delevired.
For mine it would be Children of Men or The Departed, which seems to be the common theme.

Best films for me would be Casino Royale and Children of Men.
I've seen the Departed as well but while it has some fantastic acting, and is no doubt a pretty good film, I couldn't shake the feeling that I've seen it all before many many times.
Children of Men was just brilliant. Great acting, great plot and war footage that was on par with Saving Private Ryan.
Casino Royale was a great film because it has such a wonderful, interesting central character. The film wasn't great because of what Bond was doing, which was basically the only reason to watch Bond in previous films, it was great because of Bond himself. Craig makes him human but not in a soppy lets have a cry kind of way, and its just fantastic watching what he does with the character.

Most disappointing film of the year. I don't know what I was expecting but it was a better film than that. For a film marketed the way it was you have to wonder why the film took itself so seriously.
The Departed
A Scanner Darkly
V For Vendetta
Little Miss Sunshine
hanging out to see The Prestige but havent had a chance yet :(

I don't think it took itself at all seriously. When I watched it I thought it was all one big joke and I loved it
My favourite film this year was Cars. I don't care if its a kids film, its awesome. Funny, decent enough plot and great characters. Guido is the greatest movie character of the year :)
I also like Borat, SOAP, The Departed, Wrong Man and Hoodwinked

Also, anyone see The Squid And The Whale? That was a brilliant movie and definately in my top 3 for this year. It was hilarious for so many wrong reasons and also quite sad.

My nomination goes to Children of Men.
Seconded. I see a lot of films, and it's rare that I come out of the cinema so impressed.

Snakes on a Plane
Haha I loved it. I don't think it pretended to be anything other then what is was. Tits, violence, snakes, planes and Samuel L Jackson. Great cast, great story (IE none) and acting (IE none). I mean a guy gets eaten by an anaconda ffs, what more can you want?
Is that a sequel to United 93?;)
No its actually the 97th sequel to United.
#1 The Departed (very narrowly)
#2 The Prestige
Thought Children of Men was overrated.

The Departed is tits on toast.
Borat is a ripper.
Was 'Lord of War' this year or last? Because that was tough.
Thank You For Smoking also excellent.
I disagree with those saying it was a lean year - I enjoyed plenty.

For the best effect watch a bootleg copy from overseas that captures the crowd laughter. On my copy, During that scene where the chick gets bitten on the breast, the whole crowd pisses its pants laughing when the snake attacks. I literally had to stop watching and resume about 2 hours later I was laughing so hard. Likewise for the bloke getting attacked in the nether regions by said snake.
Quality stuff that film:D

I think it was the best comedy of the year. I laughed so much I almost died and I wasn't the only one.
The things that happen are just stupid, but it makes people laugh so I don't see the problem, after all it is a comedy.
