View Full Version : Marillier - best ODI innings ever?
Doug Marillier hit 56 off 24 balls batting at 10 to get Zimbabwe up over India
he scored most of his runs over the keepers head or over fine legs head.
Its amazing reading at CricInfo. www.cricket.org
Its great to see the underdogs win for once.
I want to see some video of this scoop shot he played over the keeper's head. Maybe this could be my secret weapon for the finals coming up!

Doug Marillier was the player if I remember correctly who almost got Zimbabwe over the line against Australia at the WACCA a couple of years ago when he played that scoop shot against Glenn McGrath in the final over.

Marillier played that scoop shot in McGrath's final over twice for boundaries, but Zimbabwe lost by a run.
A genuinely original shot made viable by fielding captains who foolishly put the fine leg up in the closing overs of one-day innings.

Only foolish if the bowler doesn't stick to a plan of keeping the ball well pitched up....
Dougy Marillier was the only interesting thing that happened that season. That was the most popular shot at school the next day at lunchtime.
