View Full Version : AUS vs ENG LEGENDS
Well it's already been... and there isn't any scorecards i can find etc i went to it and i guess heres a brief scorecard.
ryan campbell made an awesome 68 off something crazy like 30 balls and then g marsh chipped in with 31 and then it died off with healy providing little resistance to be 170 after 20. the england inns started of horribly with lilee, yes lilee picking up gatting in the first over, caught by campbell. but with that dismisall it brang g thorpe to the crease who struck a flawless 71(around it) thorpe and robin smith put on 100+ before thorpe hauled out to i think alderman in the deep off greg mo matthews first delivery. it brought adam holliake to the crease and with 18 needed off 2 overs, g marsh made a brilliant captaincy move by brining on ian healy to bowl (yes ian healy) who's over started off like this 6 6 1 6 game over.
it was an awesome spirited game and the crowd was around 18 thousand! awesome stuff which raised much needed funds for denis lilee's disabled sporting charity.
all in all a 5/5 effort that :thumbsu: although the commentary was ********house..
heres some photos i took also
hehe sorry about lack of eng inns, i will put them up later. the camera didnt like the nighttime all that much...

Haha sounded like a good game. Where was it played?
At least he didnt get hit for 3 consecutive 6's.

the WACA, shoulda mentioned that in first post lol
It was played at the WACA, i went too.
Thought it was 20,000, but the Members didn't turn up.
Apart from Ryno it was a pretty dull 20/20 game. None of the oldies knew how to play. Mervs bowling was crap, but he was about the only entertaining one. ONLY ONE over of Mo Matthews, how pathetic is that. He took a wicket too.
Alderman got smashed around :D take that bitter old fool. Reid found some life in the pitch in his last over. For England, Emburey was the best bowler of the lot, 3/20 off 4. Thorpe and Smith put on like 120. Once those 2 were out it was back to the slow oldies until Healy came on and Holliake smashed 3 sixes off him. All over midwicket, even did a babe ruth point to the part of the ground where he was going to hit it.
Ryno hit 3 sixes in a row off Fraser, one landed in the 2nd tier of the lilee marsh stand.

ryan campbell could have been anything at international level
just never took the next step in his one day batting and never excelled for australia A
ronchi is heading down the same path IMO

JUst a couple of corrections
Gatting c Healy (healy was wk for most of innings ryan came in so heals could bowl)
and
Thorpe c Reid (the big man down at long on)

it was indeed quite an enjoyable game. It was cool to see Lillee have a bowl...that was unexpected
The Pommy fielding was rather comical :p Gatting was busy on the boundary and there were a few mix-ups where neither player got close to the ball

New Years Day a few years ago, Sri Lanka vs Aus A. Atleast 3 scoops over the keeper, and one walking across his stumps by about 1-1.5m so he could play a pull shot.

I think he did it in a couple of matches; the one I was thinking of was at the Gabba in mid December 2001 or 2002.

Make famous, plenty of people have done it, including yours truly, he just brought it to the media and they lapped it up.
