It has to be time for this bloke to take the new ball on a regular basis instead of McGrath, he has troubled all the batsman so far this series.

Far more likely to get early wickets IMHO.

Agreed.

He's been by far the best fast bowler in this series so far. The only reason you'd not have him taking the new ball would be to protect McGrath's ego.

I potted this bloke no end in the lead up to the series.... he has made me eata my words and more. Troubled all the poms and really looked our best quick option. If what Rodney hogg said is true, Clark will be opening up next series.

Imagine the furious head shake at fine leg from the great man...

Clark is at his most dangerous when the ball is hard and the seam prominent, he should be taking the new ball.

I think it's time he took the new ball for the good of Australian cricket. Brett Lee charging down at one end, Clarke the other end... oh my, that's a really lethal combination right there. McGrath should come on as first change, as of now, that's where the future lies.

I dunno about Test cricket, but Clark should definetely open the bowling in the ODI's. No batsmen will go after him because of his un-compromising line and length.

Clark gets pasted in ODIs, and McGrath should too.

Stop quoting his dribble. I don't want to read his crap.

It has been a bit strange, in that Hoggard and Clark are probably the least fancied of the quicks, but have had the most success. Clark is consistently beating the bat and looking dangerous. I agree that he is pushing for an opening spot, although I'm not convinced that it should be instead of McGrath.

Anderson is pretty rubbish.

This new dude doesn't seem an awful lot of chop either.

Lee needs to take the new ball.

Very hard to face a bloke throwing it 150k+ at you with a brand new cherry.

Actually I think a few of Lee's spells have released the pressure and let England get off to a good start. He can't be too hard to face with an average over 32 and figures of:

1/51
1/98
1/139
2/35
2/69 and 1/5

although he has improved as the series has went on, and he looks like he might be about to start honouring the selectors' faith.

I agree Clark should be taking the new ball, the question is at the expense of who. Another thing is, both Mcgrath and Lee look a lot better with the new ball whereas Clark is dangerous when it gets a bit older as well.

The Stuart Clark for opener movement gathers momentum as the non threating bowling this morning continues.

Lee is back to chucking pies this morning.

FFS get Clark on before the ball loses all semblance of shine and hardness.

Six overs for 9 runs, has looked by far our best bowler again. But he isn't bowling while McGrath is rolling down lollypops and Lee is serving up Pies

What an absolute joke... 6 overs out of nearly 60 and he has been our best bowler of the series.

Either he is injured or Ponting is a fool.

Lee bowling pies?

Are you people watching the cricket or not? Or do you want to lay into a guy just because you dont like him?

Drop Lee....

17 Dec 2006, 19:58
McGrath was superb, but he has lost pace and is on the decline.

Time to exit him whilst he is still at the top ...

Stuart Clark should IMO take the new ball for the opening over of the next Test series Australia plays.

Drop Lee....
he has had a terrible series and he still makes the team.

actually,

he has had a terrible test career and he still makes the team.

a joke really.

List of bowlers better than him

Tait
Harwood
Johnson
Bollinger
Bracken

There's five off the bat.

There's probably a few others you could chuck in there as well.

********! I'd prefer James Hopes purely with the ball.

I think the rumour about him retiring after the series may be true.

It makes too much sense.

He could still play but I don't see why.

Ashes = last test series

World Cup = last one day series

He'll go home victorious in one of them, not so sure he'll be in a winning team at the World Cup but we'll see.

Johnson maybe, but Tait, Harwood, Bollinger and Bracken wouldn't be ahead of him.
